Small gatorade or coconut water the day before to get the electrolytes right. Lots of regular water to hydrate.

Race Day:
Small coffee or V8 Energy Drink on the way to the track race morning.
Mostly water throughout the day (I take a gallon with me).
Gatorade (light) sparingly throughout the day and with lunch. I usually buy one and sip on it.

I run four motos, and generally eat a lot of little things throughout the day. You have to stay on top of it so you don't go into calorie deficit. My HRM says each 15 minute moto takes out 300+ calories (I think that is probably on the high side). I usually eat clif bars, peanut butter sandwich on wheat, bananas and a turkey sandwich for lunch.

I can tell when I'm in a calorie deficit after a day of riding because I find myself craving food, generally a big cheeseburger. When I eat right throughout the day it isn't as bad. But I still like that celebratory cheeseburger!

Hope this helps!

During the day, I only drink water and maybe a 12 ounce Orange Crush soda or two when I start to crash or to settle my stomach. I've tried everything: cyto, gatorade, this, that and whatever. I get heartburn or an upset stomach super easy when exercising. I have a super lame stomach.

After it's all over, it's a Coors light mixed with Clamato in a big cup mixed with ice. The best recovery drink I've ever used. I'm being serious too. Two of those and I'm good to go after the hottest most strenuous mountain bike rides or summertime motos. Good when washing your bike
That Coors light/Clamato mix sounds good. What ratio?

I start out every race day morning with a fat bowl of Emig O's with bran.

I've had really good luck with having a light breakfast in the morning combined with a high quality protein powder. I use the ryno power protein and mix in some of the carbo fuel I have one for breakfest and one for lunch on race days and it really helps give a long sustained energy without making you feel all bloated and bogged down. I also take the Ryno power electrolyte capsules it's a way better way to replenish lost electrolytes than gatorade or other sports drinks that are just loaded with sugar. it's also important to continue to drink the gold old fashioned h20 that our body's crave

Get in my life already.

There's a great recovery mix from vega called recovery accelerator and it works wonders.
I train boxing three days a week and started taking this for my soreness, it really works.
