1979 Honda CR250 Elsinore

Looks like a solid builder. Should be able to fetch $500.00 easy enough. Part it out on eBay, probably a bit more if you want to deal with the hassle of listing individual parts, dealing with questions from goobers, shipping and feedback from goobers.....

Elsinore frame and engine numbers didn't match. At least none of my 125's from 74-78 never did nor did my early CR250's from 73 -74.

Looks like a replacement seat cover has been installed, Rear shocks look like newer Progressives. If the engine has original paint on it, it has minimal boot wear in the pics.

Years ago, I would have been in the 600-800 range for a running bike like that. But, I couldn't find one so I built one out of a few thrashed bikes and poured a bunch of money into it.

It was worth it to me and I still get a smile on my face when I visit it a few times a year in the back shop.

Actually, Your bike is worth $800 + as is. It has ALL the important parts, runs, and with very little work could be a fun race bike. If I did not live 3000 mles away, I would be there with $900.00 cash to take it home.

FYI, the big ticket items on your bike are the kickstarter and undented tank. The bike 1978/79 came with black seat covers with HONDA on the back, the 1980 was the only model with signage on the side.

Do, not part out that bike, there are a ton of wasted CR's that can be parted out.

I paid $1200 for my donor five years ago. It looked good from about 20 feet, but it had a ton of mechanical and cosmetic
issues and I ended up doing a frame up restoration. The Red Rockets are popular with vintage racers and collectors so
you may be able to get a pretty decent amount. Put it on EBay with an $500 or $600 reserve and see what happens.

ride and I fire it up once a month. Except for the tires. it's all original. The only things I would still like to find for it is an OE
kickstand, and a pair of the OE "Tiger Claws".

That looks like a great base for a rebuild!! All the good stuff is there and looks to be in nice condition. As RF145 says there are lots of parts bikes out there, thats WAY to nice and complete to break up.

It's a '78 not a 79, (no tab on the frame for the front sprocket cover) but that doesn't really make any difference to its value. Honda don't do matching frame and engine numbers so don't worry about that either.

I'm not sure where numbers like $500 are coming from, but in California that bike would go for far more than that. Somebody just put one on the Vintage Marketplace page on Facebook for $1700 and it was getting plenty of interest. All you need is a plastic kit from DC plastic and a couple of cans of Tahitian Red paint.
