Ok guys I have a few questions for those with more experience. First of all I by no means need this nor can I use it to its potential. I just have wanted it forever and can somewhat justify it as I just don't like the sff fork at all. After revolve it was better but still didn't have the right feel. I pulled the trigger on a super clean set that popped up on eBay today. $1900 for the set including a set of ride clamps as well as a set of Pro Circuit clamps. This set was on a 05-08 crf 450 and I want to put it on a 13 kx250f. I think I got a steal of a deal if what is pictured is what shows up. How do I protect myself and make sure what I think I'm buying is what I actually get?

Do you guys think I got a good deal?

Forks- do I buy the kxf lugs or buy a honda wheel n brake setup?

Shock-how do I make this work on kxf? Thought about selling crf shock and buying another Showa A Kit shock off eBay that
comes with a set of kxf lugs.

Could I possibly run the crf clamps on kxf and what would that entail?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

honestly, IMO. i'd sell that set and look for a set of kxf forks and kx or rmz shock.
lot of labor $, possibly messing up getting the cr lugs off, and finding $ parts just to try to get those to fit. in the long run you'd be way cheaper to buy a kxf set off the bat.

I tried to buy those today. Wanna sell em? Kxf stuff is totally different the pivot point up to on the mount is 1mm thicker than Honda, the clevis is .5mm wider to clear the link. I'd be interested in the shock and lugs if you decide to buy that other shock on eBay with those lugs. It's not so much the wheel and brake that is the problem with fitting the forks. It is the width of the clamps. I'll also buy the red pc clamps from you. Not sure the length eye to eye on kxf. The clamps are different as well. That was a fair deal for the kit. The forks are 20mm base valves and not the newer style 24 mm. Give me a shout maybe we can help each other out. 281-236-0510

I was gonna do the exact opposite as to what you are trying to do kxf to cr, pro corcuit wanted to charge an arm and leg to change the lugs and they wouldn't just sell me the lugs which they wanted 500 for. They told me it was a risk to just sell the lugs only and that I needed to send my stuff to them. Which there is a suspension company that you can buy the correct shock body, Clevis and lugs from to make your kit fit your bike correctlysuspension direct I believe. Then to revavlved and re spring the kit for me was another 750-900 which is about normal. You can make the kit work but it will intale a lot with out the correct tooling. I fit an Rmz kit on my cr 125 but I am a machinist by trade. I have access at work that most people cannot get. I had to open my fram mounts up and the front lugs work but I had to build all new spacer for the wheel and for the brake caliper . Actually machined the lug down to align the caliper center with the rotor. Needless to say it works but with out the tooling I would have ruined it all.

I read on a site a long time age that removing the lugs had about a 75% chance of ruining the fork leg. I'd pay pro circuit to do it if I wanted it done right.

Yes, procircuit will only put their brand new ones back on 500 plus a few of 250 for dissasembly and re assymbly. It can be done showa is much easier than kyb. I did a set of junk forks just to try it and it was successful but easy ruin the legs agreed. That's why I didn't chance it on one of my A kit set. I got the correct stuff the 2nd go around.

Was hoping you guys would show in here. I figured it was cheap enough and in good enough shape that I could not lose very badly. I have a local connection of a guy that has access to all the Showa stuff and think he can get me where I need to be. Was hoping so anyway. What's the difference between these and the 24s? I was thinking these forks with the other shock and lugs and I would have a killer setup and another shock to sell along with 2 sets of clamps that are all in great shape. I thought about the lugs being difficult but they look like they haven't been ridden much if at all. Seemed like a deal I could come out of ok if it wouldn't work for me.

517 what did you have in mind?

Also is anyone interested in a set of very low hour sff forks and kxf shock with gold valves sprung for 165 lb intermediate rider.

75% for someone that doesn't know what they are doing. I have a 100% success rate on every type of fork I've removed the lugs from including KYB sss forks.

Possibly. What I read was that some form of peening was used that was tricky to remove as well as the threads generally couldn't withstand multiple removals. You need to write up a how-to, because it might help those who want to do it. I've thrown away good forks that only needed a lug. I have a set right now that needs a lug and are going in the trash.

Here's some threads where DaveJ (suspension expert) and Jeremy Wilkey (of Racetech) state very clearly the dangers inherent in removing the lugs. If it were me I would absolutely let pro-circuit do it! If you're already spending a couple thousand on the forks then you may as well throw a couple hundred more into doing it right. Conversely, you can simply get the front wheel, hub, and axle from the bike the forks belong to. You'll probably save money doing that, unless using the entire setup will somehow mess up the front end geometry. If slipdog reads this then I'd love a step by step on how he did it. I'd love to not have to throw away perfectly good fork legs!

You have to still line the wheel axle and brake rotor centered to the caliper. Even with the correct triple clamps the width of the other bikes clamp is going to change. So with that you now have the wrong wheel spacers that will need to be delt with a shoulder on the axle may or may not need machining and spacers made for the caliper. It can be done but it's a lot of work I Fit set of rmz a kits to a cr and it was not a simple bolt up. After all the work I will be sending the forks out to have cr lugs installed. This was having access to a full machine shop at my leisure. Just 1mm makes a difference as to is having your brake to work correctly or possible missalignment the forks either pushing them or pulling the together to tightly. I made my decision to try it mostly based on the tooling I had access to and I got a smoking deal on my kit.
