Matt Jory at Proven Moto, Tokyo Mods, Dasa, Tom Morgan, Pro Circuit, Dean at R&D, Frenchie at C4MX, Powered by Naveen.

Matt Jory helped bring TLD's engine program in-house, and is an excellent development guy.

Frenchie has quite a bit experience with the Kawasakis, as he's been in charge of the Leading Edge Kawasaki team's (Canadian Nationals team) engine program the past few years.

C4mx does a great job, and is always reachable. Our C4MX motor is better in all respects than our PC motor. The PC motor had the flowed head, cams, valves, ignition, etc done to it. The C4MX motor is substantially quicker and more powerful. The PC bike was a 13 and the C4MX bike a 14 KX250f.

C4MX will blow PC (customer spec) out of the water. If you want one of the best engines for any bike you can't go wrong with C4MX. Frenchie got 11HP more out of my 14 CRF450.

It should be noted too... that I never had one issue with the reliability of that engine. Best of all his customer service is amazing! If you have ever dealt with Pro Circuit before you will be much happier on every level going with C4MX.

Well, other than Mitch Payton at Pro Circuit, I think Frenchie at C4MX has a really good reputation.

Keep in mind Mitch Payton will never touch your motor. I would send it to a smaller shop that focuses on motors.
I don't think you will go wrong with any of the builders below.
Barr's Competition
Gregg Lynk
EBR
Terry Varner

Two places I can recommend! first would Be X-Pro performance out of Andover, CT! Tim is an awesome mechanic, he dyno tunes everything he builds so he knows actual numbers of every build he does. He has had awesome success and always keeps it top notch. The only other place I would send it would be to the guys over at PR2 in ohio. I have a friend who lives out that way and he always has the sickest bikes!!

Tom Morgan... Do it!

You can't knock his resume, will return your phone calls and emails personally, and provide support after the work is completed!

Mitch Payton hands down. Been Kawis main 250 factory racing program since mid 90is. He knows everything you want to know about a 250F Kawi. And it also depends how much you are willing to spend on your engine etcetera. But i think every major company in the industry makes good engines these days. But for kawasaki there is no doubt he knows the bike inside and out.

Mitch does know the Kawis and he can build a motor. Problem is it will be one of his tech’s doing the mods and you will get a “cookie cutter” motor. It will run better but not what you can get from a smaller shop with more individual attention. Keep in mind PC is a motor, suspension, exhaust, T-shirt and aftermarket company. Not to mention Mitch is running a Pro-level team and by winning championships people believe they are going to get the same bike the PC boys are riding.

-Package 3 (complete engine mod): starting from: $3500.00

good grief! not saying that a ton of labor doesnt go into porting and flowing and custom cam specs on a 4T Mod engine but i had no idea guys were spending that much for MOD class stuff.

You will definitly not get what the race teams get. But you can still get very good products and solid motors from Mitch. Nothing wrong with pro circuit. He got passion and is a good dude and they can give you a trusty motor. It depends on what you want to do and still how much money you want to spend. If you ever had your motor done by PC or you assuming? I know plenty of friends who had their engines done by PC and they are rocket fast and reliable. But ofc its cool to support the smaller companys.

I had a PC RM 125 back in the day and it ran better than stock but nothing amazing. I also had a 125 that Varner built and it ran really well. But honestly my friends Barr's Competition motor was the fastest 125 I have ridden to date. I would bet if you spent x amount at each shop the smaller guys like EBR, Gregg Lynks etc will give you more for your money.

If you don't know who to call to have an engine built, then you probably don't need an engine built!

Man would be stupid to spend that much moding the engine to just bang around as a local weekender.
