I just want to say and give props to Firefox. I have not used Firefox in about 4 years. Just too many issues, interface problems and generally did not care for it.

I have been using Safari for a while now and have been noticing problems as of late the last few months. Chrome is just a pain in the ass. I always get, "Oh snap somethings wrong" errors. Not a huge fan of it's interface either.

So I decided to give Firefox another try yesterday and downloaded the latest browser. So far it is just incredible. Speed is great, the new interface is awesome. So far have been really happy and looks like gonna be my main browser of choice unless something pops up that I don't like next few weeks or so.

I love Firefox. Another super fast lightweight browser is call luakit.

They mentioned they should have a 64 bit version ready by mid 2015 since they said Microsoft is going that way and they want to be ready when they go full 64 bit. I am not real familiar with 32 vs 64. I know Windows has always had 2 of the same applications both in 32 and 64 and I'm not real familiar with it. I know it has something to do with the chip but always heard it's best to stay with 32 but again not real familiar.

Firefox is not lightweight. Firefox is a HUGE, memory hungry application

A 64 bit chip is designed to handle more main memory, RAM, than a 32 bit processor. It allows us to really USE more main memory, instead of just having it there. Void can probably explain it better. I only know what it is

Ok.

Firefox is currently using 775M of my main memory right now.

I have to use Chrome on the old desktop at school because it doesn't have the main to support firefox. Sad days on that pile of XP garbage

I quit using it because it had odd little quirks to it I just didn't like. I didn't like you had to restart the browser to install an add-on and there were some other issues as well. Safari has just been awesome for years but it's been giving me loading problems lately. Webpage will just stall and I have to refresh so I decided to give Firefox another try again and so far loving the new interface and menu options.

Heh heh, guess I'm a little behind. I'm using 18.0.2 on Fedora 16. Both way out of date, but no need to fix anything that ain't broke.

Aren't you a little behind on Fedora's releases?

Use a rolling release distro like gentoo or arch and you won't have that. Wink

It's not that bad but it will be a bit of a learning curve for some. I'd say the hardest part is when someone rolls their own kernel then they have to know their hardware. But even at that, one can do a genkernel and it will work most of the time.

I would love to try Linux. I tried to install it a few times and had no luck. I even partioned a drive on my mac and I just could never get it to install. I tried Ubuntu. I would love to try it though. Maybe when I get some more time and patience I will give it another go.
