tommys us career was riddled with bad luck- he actually led almost the full moto on his debut (hangtown?) - getting passed by pourcel on the final lap. After that he got injured and wasnt fully fit for the whole season. Shame really, when he's fully fit he is a force to be reckoned with on that 250f- beat herlings straight up at matterly basin, and gave him a good run for his money at a few other rounds that year.
Was only pointing out my statement actually turned out to be true against all odds! lol - i thought usa would have done alot better than they did after all the injuries/ absentees this year (when i said it herlings wasnt injured, roczen hadnt announced he wasnt riding, desalle wasnt injured etc) - having only said it in the first place to try and wind you up, maybe i should have bought a lottery ticket that week, didnt realise my crystal ball was working so accurately! haha
it still turned out to be a great race, despite all the riders that were missing this year. I felt really sorry for cairoli- i was expecting him to drop the hammer any minute in that moto- he's had alot of bad luck at the nations, aswel as alot of very good races! tomac seemed to wear himself out in the first moto, then more than made up for it in the last one with a very impressive ride. Dungey rode really well in the first one- i thought he did really well to hold off nagl and van hoerbeek (even though we heard afterwards JVH was injured)
martin- well, i was gutted that we didnt see him at 100%. It would have been a good race with him, tommy and cairoli if they all managed to keep it on 2 wheels and got off the start. The poor starts were your main failure this year. Thats how it is at the nations though- you need a bit of luck!
france were fantastic all weekend! paulin looked awesome, rode absolutely flawlessly, and in my opinion could have stepped it up if he had to, he was at the front controlling the race- smooth as silk! im excited for the mx1 gp season next year- its going to be great to watch cairoli vs RV, i think a fully fit paulin, desalle and JVH will have something for them too!
searle will be a good fit on the 350- he rides the 250f much better than the 450 (just like cairoli) so the factory 350 will be a very good fit for him in my opinion.

In their debut season in 2009 Searle finished three places ahead of Rattray. Rattray then went on to finish 2nd in the series for the next two consecutive years. I'd like to think Searle would have been right up there with him had he not injured himself in such an innocuous practice crash at A2 at the start of 2010.
Searle was also riding as KTMs solitary rider in the Lites class and that Jagermeister team doesn't even compare to the factory effort KTM now has in America. He still bagged a handful of podiums in a very cometitive classl including Pourcel, Dungey, Barcia, Metcalfe, Weimer, Canard etc.
Had he not injured that shoulder things could have been very different.
On a 450 i expect he'd have finished better than Wilson,who looked pretty good out there,he'd probably be top 10 over here
It's every country for themselves, you didn't see GP riders helping each other out, they actually took each other out sometimes, so that is incorrect.
I do believe that Europe would win by a bigger margin if it was 20 vs. 20.
USA have a lot more riders to choose from than Belgium, GBR, Germany etc - every other country (other than France) had a rider who was not TOP caliber this year (Simpson GBR, Lieber Belgium, Bryliakov Russia, Phillipearts Italy, Kromhof and de Reuver Holland etc.)
Lommel was sand, Teutchenthal was definitely not sand, but clay (did you even watch the race?), and Kegums is normally harder in the summer, but riders commented that this was more like Southwick, and that they liked it.
Next year is very hard pack, hard as California, but darker dirt.
