Where are all the people claiming he lost all his sponsors? More than a few claiming his sponsors were droping him. Stll seems to have a Monster, Etnies, and Volcom, and now Fox.

Jlaw is going to end up as the MX version of the character Munson in the movie King Pin.

He'll be fucking the green-tooth Land-Lady for rent by next year.

exactly how i feel. why be a fan without knowing whats going on with him. before all this went down and he got suspended, he was my favorite rider. im not saying go be a ryan dungy, but keep low enough to not get suspended from racing.
Not quit what I meant but I see your point as well. Why put the effort in to support and cheer for the guy to watch him piss it away...

I was coming at it more the point of I like the underdog. Like with Bradshaw, I didn't like the guy at all when he first turned pro. But after he left for a while and came back, I cheered him every chance I could.

I think if Jlaw comes back, keeps it fast on two wheels (his bike, not rental car), and works at it, I will be there cheering come A1 or Glen Helen (whichever comes first).

Jason has fun. The fact he doesnt stand
on the podium and say:

"wellll ummm id
like to thank the lord jesus christ and
ummm Monster and uhhhh Von Zipper
annnnd uh just like to say my Boost Mobile
Yamaha was runnin GREAT out there tonight
thanks to all my family, friends, sponsors, fans,
and once again the great lord jesus christ in heaven."

If the track was a piece of shit he says it. If his bike ran like shit he says it. big deal. Ya of course he does some stupid shit but that doest make him a BAD person. Bob Marley once said "Who are you to judge the way I live? I know im not perfect and I dont live to be. But before you go pointing fingers make sure your hands are clean." I wish some people would take that and put it to good use. Not only with Jason but you can use that in EVERYDAY life. I kno its coincidental being Bob Marley said it but its good material none the less.

Too funny dude - This is exactly the type of post I would expect to find in a J-Law thread.

Do you even think before you post or are you too busy hitt'n the pipe?

You chose to use Bob Marley as an example? - of what?

What's even funnier to me is how you poke fun at the mere mention of Jesus, yet if you had even the slightest shred of intelligence you would know that at every chance he could, Marley openly and loudly proclaimed Jah as the one way...

As far as J-law goes, he is unbelievably talented and at the same time he is a grade A , 100%, first class - L O O H O O Z E R...

I don't care how endearing his "honesty" is to you, or how talented the guy is - hell, Jeffrey Damler's neighbors talked about what a great guy he was - didn't change the fact that he was cutting little kids up and eating them.

Face it, J-Law is a waste of a human and until he has people around him that are honest about what a LooHooZer he is, he will never get it right.

Too bad, I like his riding style...

It gets down to whether you think a factory rider should just be seen as a man who rides a dirt bike fast, or a public figure with a responsibility.

I personally think that when kids are lining up for your autograph and worship your skills, you should encourage them to be good people, not out-of-control hellions. It's a personal choice by the rider, but he has to live with the consequences.

How does history view Ron Lechien vs. Rick Johnson?

Truthfully - J-Law would probably be fired before he got half way through his first day at Micky Dees. I am think'n High School janitor or groundskeeper may the type of job he could handle.

but there I go again - being so damn judgemental....

Moto -
The difference between Lechien, Johnson, Emig and a whole host of riders before J-Law that used to raise Hell, is that every single one of them, when confronted with thier stupidity, admitted they were wrong and changed thier behaviour. To this day, if you listen to an interview of one of these guys, they all, for the most part, are repentive of thier actions.

J-Law has had countless opportunities to change his behaviour, yet continues to spiral out of control. No decent person can say that the type of behaviour J-Law is continuously engaged in is acceptable - roll model or not.

and BTW, I agree with you on the roll model expectations...

If you expect pro athletes to be your kids' role models, you're doing the parenting thing wrong.

Just saying.

Exactly !
That really kind of proves my point.
Lechien was a world class level talent...but when it comes to stories you hear about him, do they talk about his wins? No-- they talk about the craziness he pulled off the track, and that's what he is known for.

When people talk about Jeff Stanton, they talk about what a badass rider he was, and how many championships he won. When we talk about David Bailey we talk about heart and dedication. With RJ it's his guts and toughness, and O'Mara it's his physical stamina and stylish riding. With Lechien it's pot busts and outrunning the cops on a moped.
A with J-Law it will be ear biting and jokes about working the drive thru. that is the legacy he is leaving, by choice.

Expecting an athlete to be a role model has less to do with parenting and more to do with basic common sense. Athletes ARE role models, whether they, you or I want them to be. That is just the way it is...

The easiest proof of an athlete’s role model status can be found in any decent rider's contract. No company that expects to make a profit from the use of an athlete as an endorser of their product does not include an agreement clause that covers the athlete’s personal behaviour.

Basically - if the athlete does not live up to the standard the company has set as their belief of what type of person should represent them - you're FIRED!

Sounds pretty judgemental to me.

that is correct BUT there is a limit to what a Pro Athlete should do in the public eye. We all know kids mimic what they see and hear. thats how trends start. do you think every kid just decided to wear his drawers around their knees all at the same time???

He's a perfect role model

" Now son see that idiot - that's how you DON'T want to turn out"

He's the anti role role model .
