I thought about sending my motor to be built by TLR. I was wondering what gas I should run. Vp leaded or unleaded? Oxygenated or unoxygenated? Could I run half and half with 93pump gas with no ethanol with race gas. Any comments would greatly be appreciated. I ride in west tn if it matter with the selection.

Kinda depends on how nasty they build the engine for how low of grade fuel you use. For my 450 is built but not to an extreme. I rum a mix of 110 leaded and 91 non ethanol. And it works great for me. But when all I ran was 250f mods I ran straight vp u4.4 cause the motor was built toouch more of an extreme and needed high quality fuel. I will say though with oxygenated you can tell a huge difference.

Would you recommend leaded or unleaded?

Alot of people have different schools of thought. My opinion is with the modern four strokes you can't go with added lubrication.

I used to run straight C12 in my kx 250 after i had Eric Goore do a port job and found that running the leaded gas caused the lead to ball up and acummalate around the electrode on the spark plug. I was shocked the first time i saw it becuz it was a really thick acummalation.
I started mixing 70/30 and found the acummalation was alot less and my bike ran noticably stronger as well.

On my 14 crf 450, i run U4.4 leaded race gas and it leaves a light white lead residue in my silencer tip, so i'm sure its in all the engine as well, but they're is alot if people who say the lead ads cussion to the moving parts inside a thumpers engine.idk. I like it, and aint too worried about a small amount of buil up becuz i rebuild my topends regularly and change plugs more than most.

This should be part of your conversations with the builder before sending them your engine

X3 after a couple discussions with our builder we decided to run VP MS103 mixed 50/50 with 93 pump gas for practice and local races, it is unleaded and oxygenated. we use straight VP Pro6 for bigger races, also unleaded and oxygenated. don't have to change maps or anything with this setup.
