btw... I saw Wild Child kill a spectator at Silver Dollar Gold Cup. Landed 20 ft from me and my best friend in the Pit grandstands. have also seen female run across silver dollar and get hit by guys rear wheel coming out of 2. She flipped several times and came straight down. Kevin ward got sucked under when the throttle got burped. and literally still got flung forward... That's some gnarly torque.

Tony either:
1) never saw the driver on the track and contact was purely accidental. This also assumes the engine rev was from another vehicle. Or
2). Tony knew he had hit the #13 the lap prior, saw the driver on the track, and tried to "send a message" by accelerating past the driver (engine rev attributed to Stewart), which kicked out the rear end and made contact.

Mistake #1 was the kid exiting the vehicle and confronting the other driver. However, If scenario #2 is plausible, then it's a case of criminal negligence, regardless of the young racer's antics. At this point we need FTE's position and what Tony Stewart might expect in both criminal and civil court.

Regardless of the outcome, Stewart is no longer a team owner and multi-time NASCAR champion. He is now that guy who hit and killed a fellow racer.

I wanted to hear your point of view knowing your experience with these cars. Car 45 drives south and avoids Ward, Stewart seems to run high and clip him. Everyone behind Stewart is running low to the infield. That said, is it luck for them and bad for Tony? Now consider he was the one that clipped Wards front tire and caused him to end the race.

Im just tossing out observations.

a former Miami prosecutor said not enough proof of intent.

this my last post in this thread I fell like one of those sick f*cks who get pleasure out of this posting the video

ITS EVERYWHERE, I jumped the gun because the second one I posted SOUNDED different, perfect timing with the rev
as the rear tire hits

the second one I got off of Yahoo news, I embed it , but it was a U-tube from a law firm. wonder what their motives are posting
it. $$$
It's sad anyway you look @ it. last year right @ this time, TS broke his leg. now this.

Tragic

We all ride bikes here and understand sliding on dirt. I think Tony saw him at the last second and instinctively gassed it to attempt to countersteer down (away) from Ward. A bit like squaring off a corner. If you think about it that is what you would do . I know I would . The car has lurched and it didn't work as expected .

Crazy how so many people (not just vital) are drawing so many conclusions from watching this one shitty video. RIP Kevin, I just really think people need to keep in mind that he voluntarily ran out on the race track. All this Bashing on Tony is not fair to the guy.

It's about culpability. No one believes Stewart intentionally hit Ward, who exited his vehicle and performed in an unsafe manner. If #13 acts in accordance with the rules, thiere is no event.

Speculation lies at the moment of impact. Ward approached #14, which is indisputable. The question is, how was Stewart navigating his vehicle in the seconds prior. Other drivers said they saw Ward on the track before entering the turn (race was under caution). These guys have thousands of race hours, so at 40 MPH they can look outside the cockpit for distant obstacles and obstructions. Stewart likely saw Ward as well, but probably didn't expect him to decend down the track.

A layman might surmise that two large egos clashed at exactly the wrong moment. Ward aggressively approached the #14, just as Stewart gave him a little warning rev. Tony didn't expect Ward to get so close, and Ward never thought Stewart's back end would slide up the track. Both guys made mistakes, so neither is 100% liable. But one is dead, and the other, a wealthy multi-time champion, isn't. Even if a jury finds Stewart only 20% culpable, that could result in a large financial fine and loss of sponsorships. Stewart-Haas Racing may not survive this situation.

Any racer knows you don't intentionally stand in the track, end of this dumb stuff. Its not a good situation but it is all the dead guys fault. May this will end this fad of gong on the track and trowing helmets at cars that the sport shows and news has made so cool dumb shit of the past.

To everyone that is saying Tony "KILLED" Kevin that he hit Kevin because he was mad or that he accelerated the car and ran over him on purpose and all of the other BS that has been said besides it was a horrible accident. The link below is of the same video but it is in slow motion. If you go to the 10 second spot on the video when you notice Tony car turn to the right. If you look at the wing you will notice that it appears that Kevin is hanging on the wing of the car. If Tony had accelerated his car to intentionally run over him as has been said numerous times then Kevin would not be that high up on the car in front of the RR tire. This is why I was saying until we know all of the information surrounding this accident no one has the right to place blame on any one person.

Caution and cool down laps are not the time or place to express grievances with other drivers. They need to start suspending and parking guys for doing it. That poor kid had no business walking down into the running line neither does any other driver at any skill level.

I don't see how people could tell if Tony hit the throttle since they were on the backstretch wouldn't the camera pick up audio from the front stretch?

It looked to me like the kid walked down the track to the car in front of Stewart and he didn't see Stewart coming around a little more on the outside of that car. I have to believe that likewise, Stewart didn't see the kid as you wouldn't expect someone walking on the track at that point. It's dark, black suit, yellow flag, I can't imagine Tony saw him or he would have avoided hitting him. Very very tragic. RIP young man.

I disagree about "getting in front of this."

When there is the potential for civil/criminal charges, the best thing to do is to keep quiet.

Tony is fighting for much more than his reputation at this point. The fans that are worth keeping around are the ones that can wait for an explanation.

Imagine having to explain to a layman jury that In a sprint car you have to steer with your rear wheels and throttle and to turn left you turn the steering wheel right

Park one in the parking lot and make the jury take turn sitting in it. For shits and giggles, attach a cable to it and make them drive it.

I had one of these.

I should have added" if he has nothing to hide"

Plus, he had no idea the shit storm coming either.

He wont race Michigan this weekend either I'd say.

Looked to me like Ward was trying to take some fists to a car fight! Stupid! Just plane fucking stupid! No "ifs". no "ands", no "buts"!
Was listening in on a talk show on this today and every single racer that called in said that they tell these guys at the drivers meetings to STAY IN YOU CAR unless deemed an absolute emergency! (like in the case of fire).

If he really wanted to duke it out with Stewert he should have thought about this a little better..... its pretty hard when the other guy is strapped into a 800 hp go cart!

Was there too Clutchy ... Lambert jn the 1c car drifts wide on the backstretch not knowing Haud was there. .. spectator in wheelchair unable to move sitting in the tractor tires in turn 3 ... bad deal ...

Remember these cars have a mechanical fuel injection systems .. meaning they "load up" just like a two stroke ... the throttles have to be "blipped" during yellows to keep the cylinders cleaned out. ...

At our track If you got out of your car anywhere on the racing surface without the obvious reasons it was an automatic "don't come back for 2 weeks". A second time was see you next season.

Sad for all involved.

If the sound was coming from Stewart's car it wouldn't have perfect timing. It was hundreds of feet away so there would have been around a half second delay before the sound reached the camera.

That's it

Everyone needs to listen to this.

He goosed it to change direction (left) - not to hit the guy but those tyres don't respond well at low speed, they need inertia, and it bounced - like a mini high side

You want to listen to Bubba go for it. don't know how he got his name on Ocala speedway, he doesn't have any money.
he had to give it to Hulk. East bay owns it. (Ocala speedway) I just moved back to Ohio from Florida.

Tony's life is ruined, he won't set foot in a sprint car race. I hope he doesn't sell Eldora.
Maybe he will race Nascar again. I really don't care.

Tony got to be hurting bad, either way Tony did NOT mean to hit the guy or (you know...) Tony's not going to jail. Tony is going
to be light in the wallet.

this is all just what i'm thinking. no one has got to read this

enough about Tony, here's the Ward family

Accident investigation rarely leads to one fault but multiple factors that share a percentage of fault. While Ward was negligent for getting out of his car, I'd say 30% of that negligence rest on his shoulder, The remainder of the fault lies with Ton'y and he should be charged....

Drifting is a very easy concept to explain....

If drifting is the only way these cars are steered and the steering wheel and front wheels don't do it, I wana see how they load these suckers up on the trailer and get back to their pits. I can just imagine the pit racing and mayhem to ensue after the races... if that is the case.. Which I know, is false.

A driver in the race has come out against Tony and has a video which he gave to the sheriff.

The Williams death has given news shows something else to run 24/7, maybe the flame under Tony will subside.

Yeah, because Tony made Kevin Ward get out of his car and walk towards on-coming traffic. Tony also made it dark outside, all while also making Kevin Ward wear a black helmet and a black fire suit.

He is already charged ,tried, and found guilty in the court of public opinion.

Even if the sheriff finds nothing Tony may never be able to race dirt again ,damn shame.
