I have a few bolt-ons that I am about to add to my fresh rebuild from crank up. All honda parts. I am currently waiting on my 05-07 intake boot to arrive, I also have the 1" air vents on the way, along with 00 YZ 125 manifold which is 6mm bigger and I agree either go with boyesen or Vforce but for now im just keeping it on a budget I have bigger plans in the works, I am currently running a PC pipe with a stock silencer. I have a 38mm TMX carb which sucks on a cr 250 which is why I am running and Airstiker on my 250. My question is has any one put a 38mm TMX on their 125? I am trying to just open this thing up and let it breath for now. I have a full mod motor including a HPP cylinder being built right now. I am just trying to get alittle more bang out of it for now. I am a die hard honda person and I know the answer is going to be KTM or YZ 125 but, this is what I got and am sticking with it at a stock bore.

Find you another 38mm airstriker Keihin. If you will so some research on which years bikes come with the airstriker and search ebay for those bikes instead of the airstriker you'll find a good deal on them. I bought one off a '98 or '00 RM250 a couple of weeks ago for $80. All the ones on ebay under airstriker are $200+.

I'm looking for a 2003 KX125 pipe now. I hear that can also help wake up the CR.

Have not heard of putting a kx pipe on it but I'm running a pipe off a 00-01 on my 02 and it changed the mid and top curve around some I lokenot better than the actual 02 PC pipe. I'm waiting on my 05 air box boot and the yz manifold that's is supposed to really just make it wake up.

Has anyone tried a 38mm TMX on a 125 ??

Yes, every YZ125 has one stock, and maybe some other 125's as well.

^ must have a hard time reading the post I specifically asked about an 02 cr 125

All the Jap 125's come with 38mm TMX carbs, and have for several years. My 02 RM125 had one, my 03 KX125 has one, my son's 05 YZ came with one, as did our friend's 03 CR and another friend's 04 CR. Although the entire carbs will swap, some parts will not interchange (I.E. the 03 KX slide won't fit in the 05 YZ carb body).

The CR250 carb will work, though the jetting will be off, and the slide will likely be too lean for a 125.

The guy doing your cylinder should be matching pipe to the porting setup (tube length, stinger diameter etc.). Also should be setting carb up as bore size to boot length, big changes on dyno using these things as variables.

Yeah it is all matched. actually it is a steup from Plano honda's 01 race team. I was just thinking of putting the 38mm on the stock set up. I thinbk im just gonna go ahead and install the 05 boot and put the vent filters in the side along with the 00 YZ 125 manifold for this motor. I was just curious about the 38mm.

I swapped out the TMX carbs on my 04 and 05 KX125's. 04 has a 36mm a/s with custom adapters, the 05 has a 38mm a/s which was a direct swap. I can't tell the difference riding either one. Both were easy to tune and run 100x better than with the TMX.

97 KX250's came with 38mm a/s with no powerjet.

I have an 06 125 so I know I don't need the boot. What are 1" air vents? I'm also not to familiar with the YZ 125 manifold? I Know they say the 05-07 was a better bike than the 02-04 but we had both a 02 and an 04 and I swear they were stronger bikes. I'm talking about CR's only.

So what all years we need to be searching ebay for 38 mm airstrikers for? Anyone got a list?

Generally sellers don't list them correctly. Best bet is to know what you're looking at and do a search like "250 carburetor" or something like that. Airstrykers are quad vent with 2 fins on the inlet side. Only 1997 KX250's have the 38mm without poowerjet. Not sure about other makes.

according to some limited search I did on TT last night the 99-00 CR 250 has the correct carb. Anyone know if that's correct? As there is a couple on ebay now. I'm sorry but the quad vent and 2 fins is forigh language to me. Can you give me the "dummies guide to carbs right quick.. Will this be something I can tell from a pic on ebay?

Thanks

I don't have time to catch up on this post so excuse me if I'm telling you old news... but the '05 and up air intake boot flows better than the older models. I put this on my '01 CR125 to get more top end. It works!

In that link above it recommends going with a 5.5 slide for a 125. where can I order different slides? and would that be a correct part number? 5.5?

And last'ly what needle would I use? the stock one from the bike now? Which is an 06 cr 125.

Thanks

I actually went a different route with to he whole bike. I actually went with a keihin Pwk carb 1469m suzuki needle,168 main, and a 52 pilot. But probably gonna go with a 55 pilot.

The vents are made by uni. You can out a yz 125 reed manifold to open the inlet up. I ended up getting a Boyesen rad valve from eBay. I ended up putting a Boyesen rad valve which is 11mm bigger around than stock and I went with 07 cr 125 intake boot with a Kehein carb. But I have another thread for the whole bike under 2002 cr 125 build.

what do yall think would make a bigger difference on this bike, the air striker carb or o vforce/rad valve? I know both would be ideal but only one at the moment. right now the bike is stock minus a fmf pipe and silencer

how many vents did you add in and what location did you put them in?

Instead of searching for an old obsolete air striker off a KX 250, try sourcing the newer version from a 2011 ktm 150sx for example. It's modern equipment in 38mm with no power jet circuit and no TPS. They sell on ebay for around $220US but you may be lucky enough to find one cheaper.

You will be OK with your OEM, because your stock CR came with a screw top.

My '04 came with the TPS type Mikuni, and I am running a screw top PWK with the stock cable no problems.

It's the same carb. The one in the photo just has a different cap, looks like non-tps cap. Everything below it is the same.
