OTMX Washougal July 12-13

I didn't get anything back for pre-registration......only thing I received back was my Old Timers card. Which is sad in its own special way.

BTW.....I'll be on a honda or ktm, #83 with yellow backgrounds if anyone wants to come and shoot the shit and enjoy a beer.

Yep....got my pre-entry back yesterday.......gonna give that SXFKX500 a whirl. It is about ready to go. Took it all apart and corrected some build issues by the original builder. Put on my Showa A KIT SFF forks. They are valved and sprung for an old man....LOL Also put on an Lectron Carb.....
I sent in my pre-reg last week. What did you get back as far as confirmation?
My card and a outline of the event......it was the card that prompted Robbie to send me the stuff...so it really is not a confirmation......LOL

What's the best way to stay posted on a Thurs/Fri possible practice session?

I'm leaving Weds night, it's a 9hr drive for us. I'm hoping we can roll in Thursday morning and set up camp, but I'm not having any luck getting a response from the track. No one answers the phone. I've left a voicemail and sent inquiries through email and facebook but getting no responses.

I'm trying to find out if the early arrival is ok, when/if gates will be closed and if I need to pack a generator for RV power. I'm assuming yes, but if there are any spots with hookups that would be sweet.

Can't wait, it's going to be a blast!

Can a guy just show up, sign up, and race? Or do you have to pre enter? Do you need an AMA card, or some other? Who would I need to contact?

The vibe coming into the Old Timer event at Washougal is nothing like the national. It's a mellow relaxed atmosphere, you get soo much track time it's awesome! nytsmaC I don't think you'll have any trouble getting in there Wed night or Thursday morning. The practice starts at noon on Thursday. It might be getting close to filling up. You need to email Bill Mac to get your name on the list motos455@yahoo.com It seems that a lot of motodrivers are making this event, it would be fun to have a Vital gathering somewhere on Saturday night. I am running the #56 Kawasaki in 40 exp I hope to meet you guys ...

Yes you can sign up at the event. I got my Old timers card in mail from pre reg.

But unfortunitly I was practicing yesterday at washougal and some a$$hole took me out and dislocated my shoulder. Not sure if I will be ok by the weekend. But we will see. Ugh!

Damn! that happened to me there one time as well. Some of those practices before big races get pretty crazy. Hopefully you heal up soon.

I should be rolling in there late Friday night. Will be driving an orange Honda Element, pulling a three rail bike trailer.
Any of you Vital jokers that show up, please look me up and say your howdy's. My name is James, and I will be there with my wife Cindy, and my daughter Katy Emm (yeah, she is named after a motorcycle). Can you guess what brand of bike I ride? Lol

So how did everyone do?

I had a horrible weekend, first lap of the first moto on Saturday I tangled with another rider over the tabletop coming into the catcher's mitt and went down hard. I knocked the wind out of myself and laid on the side of the track for about 5 minutes until I knew nothing was broken, I was able to breathe and I could sit up. My left shoulder hurt really bad and I had a feeling it was something bad. My left big toe also hurt really bad for some reason. Once I got up I tried to get back on the bike to see if I could ride off the pain and get back into the race but nothing felt right, I doubled into the first triple after the corner and it was like landing with one arm, I almost fell off the bike. No support in my left arm/shoulder. I took the next track exit coming down into the trees and headed back for the truck, that was it. Once I got off the bike I realized I was in trouble as my shoulder felt really messed up and was in a LOT of pain!

We left Saturday night and headed home, stopped at Tulalip and hit the Shrimp Shack on sunday morning near Anacortes for some fresh seafood, and then continued up to the border. Driving was ok, the hardest part was getting in and out of the truck.
Once we got across into Canadaland we went to the ER and I got some x-rays. Nothing broken in my shoulder but the x-rays show I have a broken big toe and the doc thinks i"ve either sprained or partially torn some shoulder ligaments. We'll have to just wait and see how things progress over the next couple of weeks.

I got to meet Jeffro503 who was awesome, very nice dude just as I thought he would be. He rallied a couple of his buddies, one of which was right behind me when I crashed and almost ran me over, and they loaded up my bikes and gear for me which was very gracious. I can't thank you guys enough. I was in a bad situation and didn't know how I was going to get everything home, and you guys saved my bacon big time.

Thanks to Tommy Weeck for the riding clinic on Thursday morning, Ryan Huffman and everyone else for doing an awesome job keeping the track prepped. I had a lot of fun and I'm glad that I got to get a lot of seat time on Thursday between the riding clinic and the afternoon practice. I got almost 3 hours of seat time and burned 4 gallons of gas, I was tired and needed the break on Friday. I thought maybe I overdid it a bit but as it turned out I'm glad I did as I barely got to ride at all once the race weekend started.

Tommy is such a good guy, I got a flat rear tire in the morning clinic, he fixed it for me with a new tube free of charge after lunch! I thought I'd see him after that so that I could give him some cash but I don't think he came back after that.

Luda also relaced my front wheel with two new spokes for a case of beer, another great dude. He was having rear shock problems so I offered to let him race my 250 but I couldn't find him Saturday morning, I think he went and worked the track all day. Everyone was very friendly and hospitable and I hope I can return the favors some time.

Sounds like you had a good time! I saw your rig leaving while in town grabbin some ice. I love the community up there, Tommy was poundin out laps Sunday after the motos. Saw Luda havin fun as always! Track was 100% better Sunday.

Saturday I was first practice (7:00AM) and didnt ride my first moto until 2:30!!! (Support classes were i the 2nd and 3rd round of motos) and finished my second moto around 5:30! track was bone dry.

My dads first race ever, and he had a blast. Glad to finally get him out there. Cant wait to go back next Wednesday for Amateur racing and the Nats!

That's awesome Ryan, how old is your dad? I bet he wants to race some more now. There were three +80 riders, one was 87 years old, and that was awesome to see. I just hope to still be walking and breathing under my own power at that age, hugw props to them for navigating that tough track and staying young at heart.

We rolled in late Friday night. I was only able to do 2 moto's, as I was so thrashed that I didn't think that I would be safe for myself or the other riders if I tried to do the third one. I wanted to look up some of the Vital dudes, but was in recovery mode between moto's.
I ended up finishing 14th out of 21 riders in my class in both moto's. Had a great time, but I am still really sore.
My starts were mediocre, as both times someone got seriously crossed up right in front of me in the first turn, forcing me to brake hard to avoid them. I was just trying to have fun, and ride well within my limits, but it was my fitness (or lack thereof) that really held me back.
Good stuff. Haven't had that much fun in a long time.

Cam buddy.....I'm glad you had fun and got a lot of riding in! I'm sorry to hear about that shoulder. I'm really sorry that it happened in the first moto as well.....but we always have to be thankful it wasn't worse. Because they can always be worse!

It was great meeting you and your wife and I really hope you guys give this another try some time. I was bummed I couldn't race , but I wanted to support my buddies the best I could.

My buddies Dave won the +50 Exp , Eric took 2nd in the +40 master and Ryan took 5th in your class. My other buddy Curtis who was leading your class ( #60 on the suzuki ).......had about 3 laps to go and he completely blew out his knee. The swelling is still to big for the doctors to get a good MRI on it.....so he's heading back later this week. He can't walk on it and is still in pain.

Me....I'm bummed I didn't race , but those vet races can be brutal. Mixed with the heat and dust and just a rough track....maybe it was best I sat it out anyways. Hopefully I can start riding in the next week or two.

Stay in touch with me brotha! We'll do this again.....and you'll have a much better time. Keep your chin up.
