Homies, swamped my bike a month ago and took the head off and whatnot to clean it up. So now that it's back together, she no run of course. Resistance values for all of the components seems good compared to the manuals specs. Got a plug tester thing on now and I see spark about 30% of the time. Thoughts?
Next step is the shop and looking to save a few hundo along with my manlihood.
Also took contact cleaner to all the electrical connections and the magneto and stator do look clean.

Did you move the pick up coil around?

Hopefully you meticulously cleaned your air intake, carb, and air box...

Not to bring bad news, but I swamped my 07 kx250f last year. Took hours to get all of the water out. Finally started after about 500 kicks and had to let it idle for a long time. Changed the oil a half dozen times, put fresh oil in and let it idle until hot. The next day we went trail riding and it started blowing the deathly blue smoke out of the exhaust. Rings were shot and had to do the top and bottom end. Unfortunately, saving some money Wil k probably be out of the question. Will yours start? I thought I had gotten all of the water out numerous times but I would take the plug out and pull the kick started down and it was like a geyser!

Good luck!

I had the same problem with my 06, except NO spark. Tried a generic tester all seemed good, bought the special one at home depot, all seemed good. Found a complete CDI / Coil on eBay....no luck. I swapped out a known good CDI, wasted my time with a stator assmbly and finally determined the coil was bad, even though it read OK. I still have the new one at the shop I haven't picked up yet. They are not that expensive brand new. Electrical shit was the last thing I couldn't do until I was in your sitch. Now I know just enough to short circuit probably anything!

Try the coil.

Well, if you want to start over again, with a clean slate, I have a pristine 2006 450 for sale...Whistling

"Clean one owner, injury forces sale, never raced..."

Please excuse the sarcastic humor but truth is I am parting with my beloved foe fiddy.

Good luck diagnosing and correcting the problem.

Had the same problem with our 04 cr125 ... intermittent spark ... turned out to be a bad spark plug.

Sounds stupid, but make sure the wire hasn't pulled away from the cap any. I've had to cut 1/4" off the wire then screw the cap back on to get a bike to run right in the past. It was arcing enough to get spark, but the bike wouldn't run for shit. Easy to check. Electrical is a bitch... When sometimes, it's an easy fix. Good luck.

When it does spark is it blue or yellow? My experience is that yellow (weak) spark indicates bad stator.

Cant recall what is under the tank on that bike, coil and a small box?

If those were submerged while hot it could pull water in.

I'd probably put them in a large ziplock bag and let lay in the sun and look for condensation.

If it shows you could put them in your oven at 200 for a while.

A coil is cheap ,and also not sure if the wire is epoxied in the coil or if it unscrews like the plug cap.

The coil for sure needs to be grounded on the frame but doubt that is the problem.

Thanks for the help guys...

Coil is under the tank, ICM is on the front of the frame.

Threw in the towel, bringing it in to the shop today. Just want this effer running again its been way too long. I`ll keep you`s posted with what they find. Hoping it was just a dumb move by me and will be cheap.

Did you coat everything with a bit of oil when you had it apart ? Rust forming on bearings, especially the lower rod bearings ,would not be good. Had a KX125 that I used for a beater / mud bike. After one particularly heavy mud race, where I am sure a bit of water / grit made its way past the air filter, I let the bike sit for about two weeks. It promptly lost the big end rod bearing on the next ride.

Bought an old Suzuki PE175 that had been subbed. The guy never got it started again before I bought it months later. I got it started after a bit of minor tinkering, the main bearings were squealing like a stuck hog ,most likely from rust forming on them.
