During a typical local race my mouth gets dry. It has always done it but at 31 it bothers me to the point of distracting me during a race. I qualified for LL's , I know the heat and longer motos will make it much worse. Besides Alessi I have never known anyone to where a camelback. Any suggestion or thoughts?

(And yes I drink plenty of water leading up to any race and on the day of )

Check out the Leatt product line. They have small drink systems for MX.

There was an article on vital last year (I think) on how to prep for racing LL's and it discussed in detail how to prepare your body for the heat.. I do remember it discussing hydration and how you need to train your body to hold more water leading up to the race.

Was it a Gary Semics article?! Perhaps someone else remembers...

Whatever you do don't buy camelbak products. They are a bunch of anti dirt bike tree huggers. A portion of the money you give them goes toward closing public land to dirt bikes.

This article was written 14 years ago so things may have changed since:

You can get a hydration bladder with a bite valve hose for about $10 in the camping/outdoor section of walmart if you want to be anti-tree hugger haha. Ive had mine for about 2 1/2 years and it works great, no leaks and 25% the price of a camelback product. Youll have to rig up your system for carrying it tho.
