Who can explain to me how these particular ratchet tie down straps work?

They came in a box of junk a friend gave me but with no instructions. I found the manufacturers website but they do not have any posted instructions I can find. After 30 minutes of trying every thing I can think of I have not solved the mystery. Normal ratchet straps are simple but these are a different animal as far as I can tell.

They have a 16 foot strap with a hook on one end and a loop on the other. The ratchet buckle assembly is loose and so is the other hook.



Hey Down, just curious what you end up doing with those things, burnt them, threw them away, gave them to your neighbor. So many good suggestions here and going on two pages.

So this is how the tie down mystery was solved. The company actually replied with the instructions on how the webbing is supposed to be routed through the ratchet and hook. It is simple once explained, my whole problem is that all the parts were loose and no routing I came up with worked.

Most of the replies seemed that people did not look at the pictures or read the description I posted and kept telling me how to use the red ratchet strap end in this photo which is simple but not what I was dealing with. And for the 10th time I am not using them to die down a motorcycle.



Adjustable Sliding Ratchet
How to re-load webbing.

1. Lay the webbing down on a flat surface. Make certain the sewn on hook is facing down on the flat surface and the webbing is straight and even.

2. Open the ratchet to the fully opened position, with the green handle facing to the right.

3. Feed the looped end of the webbing under the bar on the left side of the ratchet, and then through the center of the spindle opening. Pull the webbing through the spindle approx. three feet.

4. Take the loose hook and feed the looped end of the webbing through the hook making certain that the hook is facing down like the first hook.

5. Pull the webbing through the hook and back towards the green handle of the ratchet.

6. Lift up the ratchet and feed the looped end of the webbing back through the spindle (over the top of the original feed through).

7. Feed the loop under the bar at the left side of the ratchet (over the top of the original feed through). Adjust webbing as needed and ratchet two or three times to tighten.

I own a pair of the Pro Taper tiedowns, the Matrix ones are even better.

High Roller tie downs work great and last forever. Mine stay in the back of my truck 24/7. My current pair is over five years old and never gives me any issues.

Also picked up some tie down's similar to the OP posted. 4 Tie downs for $10. I didn't spend more than 5 minutes trying, but the only way I have found to get these to work for a bike would be to cut the length of the strap down to what is roughly needed to secure the bike. If the strap is left too long, the roll will bunch up and get to large. If anyone has another way or a video regarding installation, I would also appreciate the feedback. =-]
I agree pro tapers are the way to go with the swivel!

You have used straps like that before?

I use a lot of different straps, from 4", 2" to the cheap peace of shit straps... but I have never seen those before.
