Neck brace? Counter productive?

I know this topic has been beat down but with the recent passing of Austin Mincey, are neck braces causing more harm than good ? There's only a hand full of pros still wearing them.

What specifically happened to him that has you questioning the neck brace? I'm actually wondering as I don't know any details other than he passed.

it's all theory, no university or independent testing facility have studied neck braces.

First and foremost shame on you for insinuating that any piece of protective equipment could have ended that young mans life. I think it's disrespectful to be using his tragedy in an argument over neck braces. Unless you knew unequivocally that he passed from an upper neck injury that was DIRECTLY related to a brace why insinuate it?

I choose to not wear one after gathering all the facts myself and consulting doctor friends of mine about the physics of the body, but using this young man and his tragedy to discuss something that most likely played no part in his accident is poor, just poor.
