Interesting claims. The swing arm is clearly different, I know little about vintage bikes.. Though y'all might enjoy

It looks like a 1975 MX 250B is what he has there.

509 was the 250.

510 is the 75 MX400B - 76 YZ400C prefix.

I kinda knew what you meant. Not sure about the 509 250's, but a bit of confusion will set in when opening up 510 engines, until you realize the 510 YZ had a couple of different ratio's in the transmission than a 510 MX400B. I want to say the rods were different too, but maybe memory is fading.

Both the 250 and 400B were good running bikes. Used to buy up the ratted out ones for the engines to use in the old short trackers.

You can tell its special by the works 75t rear sprocket and one off air box covers sent from Japan machined to get that factory motor to breathe

You are correct, there are two different rods in the 400's. Your memory is not fading.

That 400 is a really nice bike. I have had this little MX125 since new in 76. Finally straightened it up a bit in 2012 after over 20 years of sitting in boxes. Pic is minus silencer and chain.
