You guys all busy playing it or not into it?

I like it, it's good. Good career mode, solid AI, really good tracks and graphics, decent bike/rider control. I wish our US mx nationals had a game like this.

Anybody played with bike setup and have some good tips?

Gave it a crack. There's people around that like it and that's fine, but I think it's shit. No motivation to finish the season at all really.

I bought it and played it for 2 or 3 days. I liked it but I don't know if I just didn't give it enough time, or what. But every time I would start to play it, it would take me a good little while to get back in the flow of things. Maybe MVA is just that coded in my brain.

It gets my vote for the best overall MX game to date. Hopefully Supercross will step up and dethrone it but, in my opinion, MXGP is the most complete, authentic and enjoyable MX game we have seen thus far.

yeah i totally agree, awesome game with great detailing

.....why has it taken soooooo long to get a game like this?
the mxvsatv crew will hopefully learn a lot from this game, we dont want dune buggys, atv's, shitty tracks, short course, boost buttons and all other bs that detracts from the game

well done milestone !!!!!!!!

I've managed to separate MVA from this game and that's the only way. I have thought it would be cool to use these amazing gp tracks with the mva bike and rider physics.

I think you are correct here especially on the "authentic" part.

I'm still working my way through the mx2 class on realistic AI and it's good, I don't win every moto. I like the diversity of the tracks, I have some strong ones and some weak ones so it makes for a great championship series.

I bought mine off Amazon from the UK and it came within two weeks. Worth it.

There was another guy from NY selling them on eBay that was legit.

I'm still waiting for the multiplayer to be fixed. Milestone did post this on the steam forums:

Milestone Community Manager [developer] 10 hours ago
Hi Onxyia,
probably the multiplayer wasn't available on Tuesday for server's maintenance. Please try again now.

For everyone else, we are sorry for the lack of new info. Our team is focusing on the reported bugs, monitoring these topics every day.
More news will come soon.
Sorry to keep you waiting.

Do any of you guys that have been playing the game awhile have any tech tips?

Does dialing in your suspension help? What works best and where?

What's the best technique to corner better? Leaning forward seems good for fast corners, leaning into the corner works ok in tight corners but I wash out lots. The AI turn under me in the tight stuff.

I gave the demo more than plenty of my time hoping to get into it but its dumb to me. The tracks look amazing, thats all there is to it in my opinion. Im sticking with mxsim.

I havn't messed with any settings on the bike yet. Turning though after I play awhile I can get it nailed. What seems to work best for me is to lean forward and weight the outside peg. (like real life!) also throttle control. Get it just right and you can rail turns. some of the real high speed stuff I just ease into weighting the outside peg. Riding the 250 helped me a lot to, focus less on throttle and more on turning technique.

The game is fun, but the AI are way slow even on realistic with pro physics manual trans etc. And the online is shit. If they fix these I could get more into it for awhile, at least until the tracks get boring.

The career wasn't even a challenge, pretty lame. Kinda defeats the whole purpose.

Here is a control tip I suggested and all who have tried it love it.

I actually suggested this to both the MXGP and MVA developers over a year ago. At least in MXGP you can re-map it to work.

Manual transmission. Remap upshift to L3 (where you click left analog down) and downshift to R3 (click right analog down). This way you can shift without ever moving your fingers from the sticks for rider/bike control.

Much better than the default control scheme!! It takes a little getting used to but once you do it is awesome.

I'm going to try that for sure once I feel I have the game mastered.

Are your lap times faster this way or you do this because it's just more realistic and challenging?

I want to figure out what suspension set up helps the bike.

I love the game, I think if they get rid of the animated whips and allow the bike to move freely in the air and also fix the slow moving sensation when jumping but i think its a very solid game. also needs a clutch, sound improvements and it would be a great thing

couple more shots from the game, surprised no one has made some more of these.

Best overall MX game to date imo.

The single player would be just about perfect if the game didn't come with God mode enabled - that is to say almost no (sometimes literally none) punishment for crashing. As an experiment I completed a 15 lap race earlier, only this time every time I crashed; I forced myself to wait a genuine full 10 secs before getting going again. Suffice to say I got my ass kicked by the AI (instead of finishing 30 odd seconds ahead etc). It put some much needed tension into every lap, knowing that I had to be perfect and couldn't afford the smallest crash. I only wish it was like that by default. Still awesome though.

I think the game is sick!

People whine about the issues, but the positives outweigh the negatives! Takes a few hours to adjust to the riding physics, but once you master them, the game really becomes fun....career mode is a blast to play as well.

Good job milestone!

Yeah its a tough one the penalty for crashing. When its your own fault, you should be penalised, but when its the crazy AI and not your fault, man it would get frustrating if you got slapped with 10 second penalty. I don't know if its possible for a computer to be able to assign fault in these cases. I think the way it is, is the lesser of two evils.

The way I am playing now, is 5 lap motos, and from previous experience, I know what tracks I cream the AI at, and which ones are about even. With that I give the AI a big head start, and then there is that tension back into of having ride perfectly to catch up and win, hoping it will make career mode a bit more interesting as well, instead of being picked up by a top team after a couple of races.

The Ernee track is a little dangerous, very narrow and with those fences lining the hills. I struggle at this track.

I agree that the rider resets too quickly after crashing, no penalty.

I love MXGP game. After watching and reading the reviews both positive and negative I am glad I got this game because it is awesome! I have been playing MOTOGP and SBK develop by milestone and they are great games. When milestone finally acquired the rights for MXGP I knew it will be a good game. I just started playing and wow! It feels great to finally play a video game that is officially license by FIM. Real teams/riders, tracks and career mode, replay video, first person view is by far the best that I've played. Milestone did listen to us motocross fans what we are looking for on a MX game. Imagine the more improvements they will do for this game next year. They hit it right with the turning, manual braking - front and rear, scrubbing. Once again the replay is cool, it gives the player the chance to see how he does against the world motocross riders. 8 out of 10 stars for me. I highly recommend this game to all MX fans. It is a success in UK and hopefully they bring it here in US. I got mine from ebay.

Online play has STILL not been fixed and I am sick of making up new email addresses and login names to get it to work - and then the next day I can't play because my 'nickname' doesn't work - again. Game is garbage at this point.

Reflex = 266 hours

MXGP = 30 hours - ready to throw in the trash

My 'friend list' has gone from numerous MXGP players - to - everybody back to Reflex.

I haven't been on in a while because like the_wood, I am a little bored with it, but I will look you up next time I am on.
