So......a lot of you guys have cargo vans and I'm wondering how you shimmed your walls out. I'm going to do a 1/2 ply overlay for a smooth wall to install all my E-track.....but damn it.....none of those frame struts / rails really line up!

Do I need to shim them all out one rail at a time with wood? Could really use some advice.

I put 1/4 ply in mine. Soft enough to follow the shape of the wall studs.

Do you have a ford e-series? They sell a frame kit. Where I work, we sell a ton of E-250 cargo vans and have the frame installed already.

No I don't , I have a Chevy express Extended 3500.

Sheriff.....do you have any E-track attached to the 1/4"? One of the reasons I was going with 1/2" was because it was a lot more sturdy for attaching my E-track and other things.

getting ready to do mine this weekend, curious about it as well. deciding to either flex it up the sidewalls or go straight boxy style with straight up/down walls.

My bro had an epic 70's chevy van back in the day.

I think he used 1/8 inch panel board...glued 2 inch thick foam to it... then cpvered it with some fake blue velvet. Veeeeeerrrrrrrry cool in a seventies shag wagon sort of way.Cool

you could use 1/4" and double up and just dont line up the seams, otherwise 3/8" then a 1/4 top layer, glue and screw and would be plenty strong to attach to, that is what i did in my old work van.

That right there is a damn good idea! I didn't think about doubling it up like that! Thanks!

Just put your attachment points through the walls to a support. You gota use a flexible, 1/4 or so material to follow the wall contours or youll loose way to much space.
