On the bright side it's a good thing because it actually give somebody else a chance to win. RV is undefeated outdoors nothing would have been different this year. Stewart actually has a shot! Pinch

Undefeated looks like 2002, 2004, and 2008!

Our "country" doesn't boot up the money to send our riders to the MXdN. Riding in it isn't an act of heroism. The event is promoted that way to the masses, unfortunately.

When all is said and done, the MXdN is a commercial venture that a very small number of people make good money on. The people who do make a lot of money on the event (Luongo, Srb, etc. ?) are expecting the actual performers to ply their craft gratis, or very nearly so. They use the jingoistic angle to try to market the event, but all it really is is marketing.

The folks who have inferred that the riders are anything close to soldiers do a great disservice to any true soldier. Nearly as silly as some of the stick and ball athletes who talk about "going to war" when in reality they're just playing a game. A very difficult and physical game, but a game none the less.
It isn't an act of heroism but of patriotism.Comparing athlets with soldiers is misleading and misunderpreted but it is the inherent expression for patriotism. No money (business)in the world should jerk these basic principles.

Bad news for RV fans, I really hope Metty can take full advantage of this opportunity.

ALPMAN99, well said. It's really a struggle to get the funds for Team USA every year (not to mention South Africa, Australia, Canada, etc.) especially when they get the same travel stipend that the country next door to the race gets.

And the whole comparison of any athlete to a real soldier in this day and age is way off... Unless it's Pat Tillman.

Bobby ,like in my original scenario, possibly he's already decided he's done so he wanted to win out and go out like a champion --on top. But I definitely believe he has a knee issue, unlike some of these guys that think he just doesn't want to ride outdoors.

Well everyone that's running it but their training has gone up a notch over the last month. I'd say if anything RV has backed off the training over the last month.

I guess you missed the OP's message before it was edited. Mind your own business and quit following me around on a message board, you troll. Why have you not been clicked yet? That's more of a question for GuyB than you, so don't bother responding.
