Is simpson blind??? His hit probably broke his collarbone, what a shitty move by the mid packer simpson. Paulin is the only rider that has anything for AC and now hes out.

Whose the stupid bastard that ran him over? As a guy who has been ran over by a rider like that, which gave me permanent spinal damage, I hope somebody beats the living shit out of him somewhere.

I highly doubt it was intentional. Similar to the person who ran you over. Stuff happens when you're racing and who knows what he could or couldn't see. Seemed to be a lot of roost flying around.

I saw the yellow flag waving for 3 full seconds before Simpson went past the flagger. Not to mention Paulin's bike was flipping through the air before that. At the best, Simpson is pathetically unaware of his surroundings. Sorry, but a 250 Novice at Glen Helen could do better than that.

I kinda thought the same, even though Rattray did cross him when avoiding Paulin, but that broke his thumb and could've been a LOT worse

It blows with Gautier out. Simpson is an ignorant prick. He did'nt give a shit about the flagger and Gautier being in his line. Seen him pull stupid shit before.

It's the first lap down a wide open straight with a double into the corner, those boys were carrying a lot of speed into there , to the point where I watched practice for one lap there and moved... He may have been unsighted , but even if he wasn't , you can't check up when you are already in the air. Plus paulin rolled back down the bank into the line ... Racing deal

And that 'mid-packer' is the last person to beat Cairoli in the sand.

Simpson just followed Roelants (34) line and Paulin rolled into his path.

There is a reason why people wave yellow flags ... I think Simpson should receive a penalty and disqualification. That will set a tone for this type of behaviour.

As long as they do it for riding people off the track like desalted did to Searle in Finland , it's all good

Things happen so fast out there, you can't really blame Shaun. Plenty of other riders found themselves in the same line, almost making contact themselves with Paulin too - so clearly the one camera angle we have is no substitute for the reality of being out there on the bike at those speeds. Racing incident. But regardless it's terrible news for the series. I'm truly gutted for Gautier Sad

Just because it was not intentional, does not mean it was not preventable. it's called, not staring at your front fender while you ride motocross... which is something squids seem to do... hence this dude's frustration.

What the hell has Paulin done to Simpson?? I know it's tough in the heat of battle and all that but Simpson could surely see that 2 bike pile up from a heck of a long way back

God damn it.....GP21 just can not get a break. Right when he gets healthy and starts running really well.....another injury pops up. With him being out , it leaves a big hole in that class I think.

It all happened so fast that he probably didn't realize he was there. When he entered the corner Paulin was laying at the top of the berm and rolled over right when Simpson came into the corner. All of these guys have mutual respect and aren't intending on injuring each other. Tough break for Paulin though, he was really the only challenger to Cairoli so far in the series. Desalle has been off his game a bit lately, not doing bad, but not as good as I thought he would be at this stage of the series.

I think this shows point proven about it happening so fast he didn't know he was there. Rattray was blocking most of his vision, at least towards knowing where Paulin was laying.

Except Simpson isn't a squid, he's not a dirty rider and he obviously didn't intend to ride over him. It's easy to sit here and critique the situation using video footage taken from a reverse angle, but Simpson is a seasoned professional and GP winner.

He saw that a couple of riders had gone down ahead and in the short time he had to make a decision opted to take the same line Roelants had used to negotiate them successfully, but Paulin rolled down into his path. Simple as that.

This is what Simpson sees when he looks ahead, he has virtually no chance of stopping after making the decision to follow Roelants through.

Yes, but he had much more time than Roelant and could have gone a different direction.

Clearly he didn't know Paulin was in the rut until it was too late, but he could have easily chosen a different line long before he got there in the first place.

He ran over his left side. It looked like a pretty gnarly get off, anyone think the damage could have been done during the initial fall?

In Shaun's defense, I don't think he expected Paulin to roll down the berm. Maybe he thought he could thread the needle and by the time he got there, the opening closed up on him.

Bummer for sure. I'm a Paulin fan.
