Stiffer competition is a delusion caused by less technical tracks.

Yeah.....this season he gave him a run. Other seasons not so much. We've seen DM18 and Reed both step up and put it to RV on certain times as well........but at the end of the season RV usually always gets the title. James got beat in the O/A points by RV and RD just like I said he would. Only this time we got a rookie that beat him and sits in 3rd.

And if " Giving him a run "....means finishing 96 friggin' points back?........I would hate to see what a bad run would be.
I thought you are a fan of all the racers? Yet here you are bashing one of them again. I used to think you were a pretty level headed poster but lately not so much.

You nailed it!Smile And my guess is, James is the reason they started going with less technical "nascar friendly" tracks which has kinda backfired on them because now the start is everything because there are not very many options to make up time if you get a bad start.

For me, its pretty clear.
Wins Per Championship Ratio
MC: 10.28
RC: 9.6
RV: 10.25
JS: 25
CR: 21.5

Jeremy, Ricky, and Ryan are within percentage points of each other, taking SX titles with every 10 race wins (for Ricky, even less). Chad and James sit at the other extreme, requiring more than twice the number of race wins to accomplish the same task. Combined with 16 total championships (MC, RC, RV) to 4 (JS and CR), the gap widens.

James and Chad have tremendous pedigrees, and Mr. Stewart deserves a spot on the Mt. Rushmore of Racers. The same cannot be said for their spot on the greatest SX champions list. Each had weaknesses exposed by their more savvy competitors, and while they both brought excitement to the series, they succeeded only when RC or RV we're not at the gate.

Would any of the current riders even attempt to ride on the old (86-93) tracks? I think they wouldnt.

3rd SX. (3rd in titles)

2nd All time. (2nd in combined titles)

Numbers are pretty easy to back that up.

What facts? The facts are JS7 had some issues that you did not include.

What truth are you interested in?

Here you go.

Record books record the results.

History books record the stories.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your point of view, there aren't really history books for moto.

Don't get pissy. It's just a factual statement, the records don't reflect much more than who won.

RV's comp is stiff, but it ain't stiffer than MC's or even Stanton/RJ (that era), IMO. And Stewart's Kawi days were his best, again IMO. RV is a dominant one, a legend and definitely in top 5 discussion of All Time greats.

If there's one guy going 10 on the speed scale while everyone else is going 9, the competition for that guy is not stiff. If everyone is going 10, the comp is very stiff. It's not an illusion; it's reality.

When you're one of many going 10, starts are critical, and mistakes are severely punished. The pressure goes way up, whether you're waiting for the gate to drop or you've got James Stewart all over your ass. I'm surprised RV is still a redhead.

It's not any more impressive than being head and shoulders above your competitors, but it's not really any less.

That is a completely nonsensical statement and I don't have time to worry about your nonsense.

Either way, it's not my history or my facts. Those are just what they are. If anyone skews events around here buddy, it's you.

That's right, I forgot about that one. Was it RV's rookie year?

This is not a Stewart bashing-session, just a review of the facts. Yes, James had some unfortunate issues this season, just as every racer has unexpected events try and derail their seasons. Minimizing bad situations plays just as big a role as maximizing opportunities. The mental aspect of racing can take its toll on the unprepared, and we've seen ludicrously fast riders fall victim to the sport's brutal pace and schedule. It's what separates champions from also-rans.

If RV had half the issues James or any other rider had over a series, we wouldn't even be having this discussion would we?...
