Maybe a few dumb questions but I've never been to an SX and I want to make the most of the day so..

- It says that doors open for Qualifying at 12:30. If I go in for qualifying do I then have to stay in the stadium for the next 10 hours? That would cost me a small fortune in food and beverages for a family of 4! Also, the weather reports I'm seeing are calling for sporadic rain.. could make for a long day for my little ones.

- I don't see anything about bringing in cameras. Is it ok to bring in a point-and-shoot?

- When do pits open? After 12:30?

- Do you have to enter the stadium in order to get into the pits or do you get to them from the parking lots? Just wondering if I will ba able to get back to my vehicle for food & drinks in between.

- Should I wear my MX jersey so everyone knows I'm a real racer? [kidding]

- do they broadcast the race by radio? Should I bring headphones and an fm radio?

- any other tips for a N00B?

thanks!
Just received an e mail from Monster Energy Supercross. "No professional still cameras with a lens 6" or longer or single purpose video cameras of any size".
" Re-entry is allowed from 12:30 to 5:30 at Verizon gate only. No re-entry after 5:30"
"Guests are permitted to carry in bags less than 12" X 12" X 12" in size. No bottles, cans, coolers, or alcoholic beverages of any kind"

I wasn't planning on going because of the higher prices deciding to do Red Bud for the first time instead but scored cheap tickets ( section 216) on Craigs List today.

We have 2 or 3 seats left in our luxury suite. Our box 3-79 in the presidential suite area. They are awesome boxes and ours is on the 15 yard line and just above section 100 so they'll be great seats. The presidential boxes are the closest to field. Ours holds 24 and I think we have 21-22 coming on the bus from Ma. So if anyone is looking for to sit with us in the box feel free to send me msg and I'll give you the details. The tickets are $200 each. Mike

Took the Jet Blue red eye, Long Beach to JFK, arrived at 05:30, picked up my rental car and drove to the race HQ, the Meadowlands Hilton, right next door to the track. Wanted to check in and wash off the airplane germs, but my pleas for an early check-in fell on deaf ears at the hotel registration counter. Had breakfast in the hotel restaurant to kill some time. Villopoto, Weimer and a Kawi mech doing the same at the table next to mine. I asked Jake how he''s doing and if he is racing this weekend. He said he's been riding a bit and is excited to get back out there. Mrs. V came and sat down just as we were all getting up to go to the press conference, as did former Moto GP champ, Casey Stoner...not to be confused with local hero, Carl Stone. No sign of him yet.

Went to the press conference, which Feld had set up similar to the one they do each year before Anaheim 1. The place looked really nice and it was nice to see everyone's friendly faces again.

Minutes before the press conference began, Josh Hill did some solo laps out on the track and hit what looked like a quintuplet, then pulled off the track...

The press conference was hosted by Fox Sports 1's Jenny Taft, who did a great job and looks even better in the flesh.

The last (and best) question of the day came from the guy from Bloomberg News, who asked Dungey a fairly technical question about his specific tire choices at various tracks. It seemed a bit surreal and I asked Ryan if he saw that one coming...we all laughed.

The riders burned some laps for the cameras and did some interviews for the various reporters.

I finally checked into my room and contemplated my room number as I took in the view of the NYC skyline:

See you all at the track...it should be epic!

Coming up from Delaware with a group. Sitting 25 rows up right on the 50yd line. Where they are quading the rhythm section.
