Cool to see this place is still so full of assholes. Tradition is hard to break, eh?

OP, great looking bike. That style kawi is always cool in my book.

I've been a lot happier with my gold valves and .48 fork and 5.8 rear spring.... It's a little stiff but it helps keep it up in the stroke better and not harsh. I just revalved my fork and shock for the second time and went stiffer on the valving again even though I didn't have a bottoming issue and that helped with the turning and I keep my fork tubes flush with the top clamp. I finally gave in and ordered a PC linkage and will let you know how it helps.... It supposed to arrive tomorrow. the link is supposed to be stiffer in the initial stroke to help with the geometry in the corners.
I went the Proaction route. I have always had good luck with them. I like a very stiff bike myself but I have been softening up on the rear trying to get rid of the stink bug feel. It hasn't worked and I really need to do something. The bike is awesome in most regards and I've had a bunch of KX 250's over the years. It is by far my favorite bike and brand but this one, its just a little different. I've never had this problem before.

Are you sure that the suspension work was legit? I also enjoy the KX a bit stiff but maybe you went too stiff?
What kind of problems do you experience or is the problem that it simply just wont turn?

I don't think I have gone too stiff based on watching video of myself riding. As a former local expert I still ride as pretty aggressive vet, but, what I noticed the chassis was doing was diving through the fork stroke upon deceleration making it tough to set up for normal 180 degree corner riding MX. The front end was castering upon entering the corner, transition to a over steer condition at apex followed by extreme push in the front and step out of the rear with hard acceleration. MXA
Was calling this a turn and stomp.... As you exit the corner you have to stomp your foot to keep from washing out.

after installing gold valves and valving for a fat old guy that isn't afraid to twist the throttle the condition improved at the entrance of the corner, and did not step out and push as bad as stock. I went stiffer in the low speed compression damping in the front and rear to keep the chassis as stable as possible allowing the bike to track better through the corner. my goal was to try to get as close without the PC linkage and I think I am pretty much there.... But broke down and bought it and it just arrived at the door so we will see how it works next weekend after installing this week!

Yea, I'm pretty sure. I only rode it a few times before having it done but it did the same thing stock. I hung with George Quay while they did it and even had them install it and set sage ect. I have always gotten good service and good results from them. It is pretty legit for the most part. It is actually a bit softer than I usually get. The bike for me is just stink buggy. It is high in the rear and won't settle down in turns. The front is a little dodgy. It is hard to rail the outside and hard to throw into the inside. It just feels like a high in the back, point and shoot ride to me. I'm a pretty aggressive rider and it keeps me from really putting out. I have been hitting the bikes limits before I hit my limits (in turns).

Same thing here... Through the jumps and straights with G outs it is great and the hit in the midrange is phenomenal! Woohoo

I turn it down a notch to get though the tight turns and then drop the hammer, I will let you know how how the link helps. from what I have read it is the hot set up and addresses most of the turning issues!

Sweet, I can't wait to see what you find out. I really hope it works. I just knew that coming into this year that I was going to have to do something with mine and not quit sure what. I haven't checked prices but I would imagine a link will be much cheaper than offset clamps.

BTO has them right now, I think it was 229? If you enter "pulpmx" in the coupon code I think it will get you 15 bucks off.... Either way it looks cool!!!

Unfortunately it is a full millimeter wider than the stock link where it mounts at the frame and binds so bad it does not function! I had a really busy week at work and did not have time to call PC to find out what's going on but I will tomorrow.

On a different subject if anyone can point me in the right direction with the jetting it would be appreciated. I'm at 4500 to 5000 elevation here in reno. I have gone leaner to compensate for the elevation, but, I can't get the detonation to go away. I went with a leaner needle on the second position from top and it didn't really help, if I go to 3rd it's so rich it won't run well at all.

Right now at 4500 ft and 75 degrees I'm at, 48 pilot, back to stock needle at second position, 160 main

3rd gear on the gas hard under load it detonates bad enough I back down!

Check the air gap on the ignition pick up, and if its still pinging either get an 07 head, or get the 06 cut to slightly lower the comp.

Did the air gap, I just adjusted it again from .65 out to max .85mm by the service manual.... Frustrating!

My riding goes from 800 to 3500 feet, so I really don't have any jetting advice for above that. You really don't have to deal with winter fuel in NV do ya? One thing I do that is different than most is run an EIX 7 plug instead of an 8. I've done this for years on every KX I've owned since 97'. Also, the KX's from around 01 and up won't run right on a BR plug. You have to run and EIX. I just thought I would mention it just in case. You might experiment with an EIX 7 and see if it makes a difference. It would burn hotter letting you run a little more rich, like the 3rd clip you talked about earlier. It is for sure a less technical thing to try before doing something extreme like shave a head. You are in a totally different area than me. I run stock jetting and a 7 plug and I'm pretty crisp on pump gas and 927. By the way, if you are running 927, 927 doesn't have much shelve life if you are running last years oil that sat through the temperature changes. If that is the case, kick everything back to new and fresh before going to extremes.

I'm really anxious to hear about the linkage. that really sucks about the different in width. Surely it sounds like the wrong part. I hope it works out. I really need to do something with mine this year.
