Shit physics, goon positions, animated whip action (try whipping for longer than you should), worse sounding bikes than MUD..... The list goes On....

Guys, I love a new mx game but if you keep preaching shit without honest feedback you'll end up with a blocked toilet, ala thq's mx vs atv series....

I haven't played this demo so I can't speak to it, but I agree with your comment on THQ. Every game was worse than the one before it. The Alive POS was the ultimate climax of shit MX games.

x 1000000. What is it with some people. All they care about is god damn scrubs and hitting the limiter in the air. Who gives a fuck. This game looks good to me so far. Real tracks, riders, gear, bikes etc is a terrific start, and from the game play that has been posted, I think this game will be a winner. Cant wait to get it, gonna have to find somewhere that will post to Australia.

Wow....best I have done is a 1:43 but I'm also running manual transmission which is realistic and challenging but also difficult.

I agree. This game is superb. I think when it comes out it will be the best overall MX console game we have seen, to date. I say that rather easily, actually. Just my opinion.

I like the manual for riding, but on the starts and if your fall or fly off track it starts you in neutral, which pisses me off. But I shift quite a bit manually even in semi auto mode

My best so far...

Nailing the downhill triple sweetly allows you to nail the uphill quad. Starts I havn't mastered yet but I'm trying different techniques. A big help is leaning forward in turns, looking ahead up the track (not at your rider), getting your braking done before the apex and rolling on the power instead of just dumping it. Just like real racing...

I mean don't get me wrong, the scrub/whip action in Reflex is pretty cool and all, but am I gonna stay up all night because of that shit? Hell no. That's why I can only play that game for about 5 minutes.

But now playing a legitimate, licensed career mode with real tracks/bikes/riders with realistic racing physics that require proper line choice, throttle control, braking and even manual shifting - that shit'll keep me up for days on end!

How cool is it that this is a replay camera option!
https://youtu.be/JXYe4R_0t3c

That's something I've missed in MX games for, well, pretty much ever. None of the games have good replay modes anymore. WTF is up with that, why wouldn't I want to re-watch the race I just did? Pretty much every other racing game has that option, and the better the angles/mode, the more time I spend re-watching my races!

Bah, if it looks goofy and doesn't "feel" right, then you lose a big chunk of immersion.

Rider position shouldn't even be an issue, how the hell do they get it so wrong?

Incorrect, given the demo a fair hiding. Wouldn't make these assumptions without trying it first.

Are you playing on PC? If so you know that you can take screenshots with F12. No need to use a handheld camera lol.

Anyways, nice times...I'm still stuck in the 1:42.1 region. I'm not too worried about it though as I think there is a time attack mode.

Well I play on 360 as well but I ordered a 360 copy and a ps3 copy because honestly I don't think the 360 copy will play on my US 360. I did the same thing with MUD and it worked on my US 360 but I am hearing that Xbox version will be region locked. At least you know with PS3 it won't be locked so we can def play on PS3 or PC.

I ordered off of Ebay UK. Several sellers on there. It costs a bit more but it will be worth itas who knows really when/if it comes to the US other than on Steam for PC. But like I said, I don't know if the 360 version will work here in the US. If you want to wait I can tell you for sure in a few days. If it doesn't work I'll have a nice little momento from the game in that disc and just play my PS3 copy but no one would ever give me a straight answer whether it will work or not. MUD did but MotoGP13, I hear, didn't.
Ok thanks, i will wait for you to tell me if its playable in the US.

At least you've tried it, but for me I don't lose as much when the rider posture/whip stuff isn't spot on. Motocross is so dynamic and the movements are pretty complex, I'll live if they're not perfect. I just want the bike and track to have an authentic feel that gives me an accurate challenge.

I don't understand how people are unhappy with the demo that have actually played it. But, to each their own. I pre-ordered the full game and I'm waiting for it to unlock on Steam in a little less than 6 hours!

Pre-ordered a Steam code through GMG for just over £21. Annoying that us Steam people now have to wait a few extra hrs before we can even begin downloading though. Won't even let us preload.

The game looks awesome so far, with the huge except of multiplayer lagging like crazy.

I'm hoping the problem was simply a few people with bad connections....going to test with some friends later.

Such a bummer if it's the game netcode. If it is, hopefully they'll patch it soon.

Really loving the single player thus far (haven't tried multi), it's pretty much everything I hoped for. Had a great 20 lap race round Matterley on Pro/Realistic. Cairoli gradually pulled away to a 26 sec lead (admittedly I'm not the best at the game....) whilst I held onto a comfortable 2nd place. But then as the track got rougher, and line selection and concentration began to really matter (just like you'd expect from a real GP length moto) I began to screw up and get caught. Very good!

If I have one negative (other than the overly forgiving crash reset), it's that some of the tracks are imo a little underwhelming compared to their real life counterparts. Matterley is of course quite well done as I'm sure most would agree. So is Valkenswaard, Agueda and the simply stunning Maggiora. However I'm fractionally less impressed with Teutschenthal - which to me feels too flat and mellow compared to how it looks on tv.

But that's mostly just nit picking really. Overall my early impression is that they've done a wonderful job with this game.

Thoughts???

I posted this onto the Moto Related forum, but here it is for anyone who doesn't look there often.

If anyone's not turned away by the last few complaints on the game, there's a way to switch your account region thru Xbox live so that you can at least download the demo for free. I switched mine to the UK and all the payment info I used seems to have been accepted. All I did was Google postal codes for London and picked some random address and it allowed me to download the demo. If anyone wants to use any of the information I used for mine just send me a PM. Mines currently downloading while I'm stuck at work for another 2 hours.

I just downloaded the demo, will be running it right now on twitch.tv (twitch.tv/rangerlee)

Just a heads up, I am not running a controller right now, so I do not anticipate a very good showing, but this will be my first time running it, on a middle of the road gaming PC. Perhaps that will answer some performance questions.

Don't even bother at this point with multiplayer....it's basically unplayable. You certainly can't have any type of race. Hopefully they patch it. That is a bummer for me because I always enjoy multiplayer more.

With that said, the tracks are awesome and the career mode is the best I've ever seen in a moto game.

I first tried playing with the Keyboard, while the option is there, I am the suck with just the KB.

I tried a cheap controller next, the game did not see it.

Finally hooked up a Xbox 360 wired controller, that worked and it was playable (demo) though I still suck. Found a crazy bug, after crashing in the start of the first turn, then crashed again 2 turns later, the game put me back on the track, half way across well in to first place.

Stupid, stupid bug, I assume the QA testers were just so good at the game they never crashed all over the place like I was so they never saw it. Anyway, on that one track at least, I am sure nobody will exploit that bug....

I bought the game on steam and have spent the last 3+ hours playing it. Its defiantly worth the $34. Its got a decent learning curve from MVA but I've already got it down pretty good. Im in week 9 of the career mode right now, tracks are all fun so far. Some the ruts seem to matter more then others. I seem to be a better sand rider I guess. From what I can tell right now it seems you cant customize your bike and rider like I would like. You just always ride for teams so you have there bike/graphics and whatever gear that team runs also. Not a bad thing but I always liked trying to make my real bike in the game.

This game is really, really good. The accuracy of the tracks and the feeling of nailing a section is just too awesome.

Yep, enjoying the hell out of it, it's really fun once you get the hang of it. Those guys making the new MX vs ATV game have their worked cut out for them.... Now just think if these guys did a SX game??

I also recommend switching to manual gearbox when comfortable. It significantly added to both the enjoyment and difficulty for me.

Love manual transmission in this game. Also, I'd recommend mapping the upshift to L3 (where you click L stick) and downshift to R3 (click R stick down). That way you can shift without taking fingers off either stick for rider/bike control.

Takes practice but really adds an advanced control element to this AWESOME game!

Awesome tip ^. I took your advice and after a period of adjustment, it's definitely a lot more comfortable now. Thanks!

Does anybody know if the 360 version works on American consoles? If not, are they planning on releasing an American version?
