How do you get dents out of a 32 year old 2 stroke exhaust pipe?

Heat and air pressure, there are still company's that will pop out and fix pipes and they do a good job but now with the 4 strokes you don't see them as much. Bruce Sass at Vickery motorsports in denver can do it .

Yes Heat and air pressure. If you have an acetylene torch and some patience you can do it yourself....Get a small automotive radiator hose the same size as the stinger end of your pipe. Clamp it to the end. Put a round plug in the other end of the radiator hose, drill a hole in the plug and add a schrader valve into the center of it. Now put a proper size rubber freeze plug in the cylinder end of the pipe and tighten it. Pump about 5-10 lbs of air in the schrader valve and take a torch and warm the dented area evenly. Get it slightly red hot being careful not to go too crazy.. creep up on it. the air will push the dent up and out. Heat also increases the air pressure, so be careful. You don't want to blow a hole in it. Too much heat will also make the metal brittle. So.. like I said..creep up on it.. I've done many of them with great results.

But as was said, if your doing it yourself, be careful with the pressure. Too much heat and pressure and I've seen a seam blow open. Makes a big boom and everyone is the room pees themselves, kinda scary. I've seen some shops using a pop-off valve to keep the pressure from getting out of hand. The companies that still blow them out are worth every penny. Not only to they get the dents out, but can get the shape back to pretty close also.
