Things to do in Indianapolis?

Edited Date/Time 2/28/2014 8:27am
Heading to Indy tomorrow afternoon with a group of 6 other college aged kids from Wisconsin. We're staying near the airport, with some other friends staying downtown. What is there to do the night before the race? And after the race? Is Fasttimes the best place to go karting in Indy? Also is the girlfriends birthday weekend, any good restaurants, things we should check out?

Thanks

The 500 museum is epic, Fastitmes is the shit, downtown is the much safer place to go now and some quality restaurants.

Don't know how much time you have before you head home but if you have never been to the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum I would encourage you to make the just under two hour trip east to Dayton providing the weather is good on Sunday. It is right off of 675 and with the exception of not having a Space Shuttle has one of everything. Guessing it won't fit into your travel plans this trip but for future reference keep the Air Force Museum in mind.

Entry is free but if you want to see any IMAX movies they do charge for those.

yz763 is spot on about the 500 museum.

Broad Ripple is fun, I'd recommend checking out Connor's Pub if you like a good dive bar.

Go Karts, bro. Put your hat on backwards.

And if you think i'm not serious you'll be missing out! That indoor go-kart track is awesome.

Lots to do downtown Indy. Pubs and restaurants on every corner.

Food: Bourbon Street Distillery-361 Indiana Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46204--great lunch option; Try Harry & Izzy's or St Elmos for a great steak dinner--get the shrimp cocktail--same both places

Fasttimes is great! If I were you i'd call ahead and try to rent the place to yourselves...we've done it and it's much more fun because they are more lenient and it's honestly not much more money-for 7 it'll be about $100 a person for 3 hours.

with the current weather coming in there isn't much to do besides the 500 museum is cool and the club/night life which is pretty much centered just south east of the Circle downtown.

My favorite place to eat in Indy is Mo's, A Place for Steaks. The best steak place in the country IMO. If you're on a budget, the Char-Broiler Grill is pretty good, too. St. Elmo's is famous for their shrimp cocktail.

After the race, you could always stop by the Red Garter, especially if you're into C-section scars.

Just remember when partying in Indy. Indy is the town that took Tyson down. Be careful about the shady ladies in that town.

Taking a girlfriend to Indy is like taking sand to the beach! If you must you must. LOL!

Alot of guys from these boards meet up at Tilted Kilt on Friday. I also recommend Scottie's Brew house. Be prepared to freeze your ass off. IUPUI is RIGHT there and there are plenty of college chicks and hang outs. The best partying is in Broadripple not indy.

Pick up a News4U and it will tell you what is going on where.
