Well I framed my new bike today. It's never been started before. Upon attempting to remove the T radiator hose assembly from the frame this happened......

SO...... I have a need for this now

This is my bike.....

This is it now.....

What do you mean you "framed" your bike? It looks like you tore it apart with a pair of vise grips- Poor bike!

I have never wrenched on a single KTM in my life but it looks like you took some extra stuff off to get to the "T" fitting.

Why would you strip down a brand new bike that far? Judging by the destroyed part, I think it's unlikely you're a race shop!

There is a spline inside the down tube that allows you to spin it out of the top cross piece. I refused to buy the tool so I attempted to use a pair of channel locks. It was so caked in loctite it wouldn't budge. It broke on the top at the threads so after that I knew it was fucked and just mutilated it to get it out.

'Framing' a bike is taking it down to just the frame.

I was going to send the suspension out, and re-check all the grease points that the factories tend to skimp on when it comes to grease. Then I decided if I was that deep I might as well powder coat the frame orange.....

Take it easy guys, it wasn't as bad as it looks. Once it let loose and I knew it cracked instead of the threads breaking free I got really rude with it. But thats NOT how I usually treat my stuff

Powder coating frame attests to your love of your bike...I can certainly understand your effort and the the realization that it was done -then at all costs end it!

Get your new part and continue with your projectSmile We (the addicted or is the dickted) need lots of pictures to feed our addictionWoohoo

I'm fixing to drop a new Wiseco piston in a CR250 and looking for advice. What size hammer would you use?

Touche'! Think I'd use a brick before putting in a Wiseco. The engine will produce about the same noise.

Sweet plus it will come in handy when I adjust the squish clearance. Good call.

I ended up leaving it in mine when I stripped it down. Didn't realize I would need a special tool until I was in the middle of it all. I had several people tell me to just use pliers and it will come right out. I could tell pretty quick I'd been lied to so I quit before I buggered anything up.

They really should just hang a red flag off that little thing!

If I ever did something like that, first I would probably vomit. Like projectile vomit. Second, I would NEVER tell a soul...especially all of us assholes on here, haha. Props for at least owning up to your mistake and not giving a damn about posting it

I am a KTM dealer and that T is hard to get apart. Warming it up with a propane torch helps loosen the pipe dope in the threads. He is not the first one to mangle one...and he won't be the last.

Agreed. I would guess some of the folks giving this guy a hard time have never tried to remove/re-install one of these things. Horrible design.
