Does a doc actually have any say in the matter? Yes, they can make a recommendation but he doesn't have to follow that recommendation does he? He's running his team so I would think if he felt he could ride after attempting to ride and believing whatever pain he might have is tolerable then I would think it would be his call. Now whether it's smart to do that is another story.

Reed, I mean Ironman (so lame) has lots of fancy gadgets connected to him to help speed the healing process......Looking at the Xray, the collar bone is definitely going to be a concern....Like Hill, he had a plate inserted, but still sat out a week.....That may be Reed, I mean Ironman's only option....but going out too early could really cause problems....a simple tip over or coming up short would be a problem..

With a plate i'd say it's possible, without a plate there's no way.

I'd be more concerned with the T1, what if he makes that worse?

I'm not even 100 percent sure. I do know that nothing was broke, per se. He has told me that his scapula hurts more than his neck. There's a bunch of stuff that is messed up. Well, a fracture is NOT a break so I don't see where the discrepancy in stories is. Sounds like they are saying the same thing.

I thought he corrected that shortly there after and said that the news was better than he originally thought and that they were only fractures? Maybe I have it all screwed up, wouldn't be the first time.

Actually,

There exists a misconception that there is a difference between a fracture and a broken bone. A fracture is a break and a break is a fracture. The fracture can be complete or incomplete but it is still a broken bone.

In layman's terms, we are referring to a complete fracture as a break and an incomplete fracture as just a fracture. Regardless, the dude has some serious damage that will, at BEST, effect his results if not sideline him all together. That's a bummer no matter what is actually broken or not.

C'mon guys....Keeping himself in discussion or stirring it up as they say is his forte' and it works when dude is on or off the track..Strolling through all the comments people post are somewhat comical at times as he certainly gets the "atta boys" he is looking for ....most of us hope the dude just gets healthy and doesnt risk it - Chad is not the first or the last to have a crash/injury screw his day, week or season, shit happens and that is Moto!!....All the information posted via social media is just a build up for what is to come this Saturday and I am sure they as a "team" are not sure what that will be until Friday night....Either he lines up and races and is called a "bad ass " or " super human" and does what he can to get whatever points he can, or he pulls out and is called a " bad ass" or "super human" fo giving it a try.....If he just said " im done", that wouldnt be very climactic.....so we'll see what happens....

It took 28 seconds for that camera to fall what I would estimate to be about 3000 feet. That works out to less than 75mph. That's slower than a fastball. A GoPro with housing and battery weights 6.7 ounces, just slightly more than a baseball at 5 ounces. I'm guessing the pig might have felt it but it wouldn't have broken the skin, especially since the hide on a pig is roughly 3.5 times thicker than the hide on a human. Smile
