AMA really should not allow teams to offer contracts for supercross rides only. It really does hurt the sport. Fucking outdoors in 5 years will be 5 factory guys and 35 privateers. That or make it so you have to compete 2 full season's before your allowed a supercross only deal if you need to compromise.

I think you are way off base. Don't treat the symptoms, treat the illness. The nationals are broke and unattractive to riders. Fix that instead of trying to legislate what a rider can and can't do with his time.

If there were a rule there would be several "season ending" injuries after Vegas.

The AMA does not have to make a rule regarding supercross only. The fans of the outdoor nationals have to make a rule. Stop attending sx events. Stop purchasing products from comapnies that support sx-only (answer/thor/redbull).
If you want the outdoor nationals to survive vote with your wallet.

AMA can't stop it.
How could they?

The remedy is to combine points between the two and crown a "Grand Champion"

Sx has better viewing areas, better climate "indoors" has different locations and times. It just draws more fans. If Mx hadmore fans attending the races the problem would be solved. More fans = more money=more riders

If the nationals were worth the riders/teams & sponsors time it wouldn't be an issue.

Someone from the butler brothers posted an article that showed the breakdown cost and payoffs of sx vs mx a while back. It was insane. It may have been over on racetime.

Doesn't Answer, Thor, and Red Bull all sponsor guys who do both series too? What a joke, don't buy something because two riders have sx only contracts. Where was all this talk when Tyler Evans had his sx only contract, I didn't hear one person say "Don't buy a Suzuki." How bout when MC had his sx only contact, anyone say "Don't buy No Fear?" Stop with the nonsense already, if you like the Fox gear, go buy it, if you like another brand, go buy it. Since when did everyone become sheep and just start buying gear because their favorite rider wears it?

You mean the sport was run better back in 1984?
No way that could be.

Ive often wondered why they dont do this. Seems like such a simple solution. Get rid of the specialists, make it an even playing field, 14 round indoors, and 14 rounds outdoors. One championship.

Why arent you out there then? I dont understand how you can crticize someones personal decisions when you arent willing to try it?

If you had a dangerous, possibly life threatening job, and could make the same amount for only doing it half the year, would you?

Boycotts are not going to force a team or rider to compete in the Nationals.

FOX saying they are no longer going to sponsor the greatest rider in the world because he is SX only is not going to force a rider or team to compete in the Nationals, especially when FOX sponsors SX only teams like Hart & Huntington.

A Grand National Champion will hold as much marketing weight as the FIM SX Championship.

Whining definitely doesn’t work.

If the rider and teams are going to lose money racing they are amateur racers, not professional racers. It needs to make financial sense for the teams and riders to contest the Nationals. A better television package, lower costs, more inviting to team/rider sponsors. That is something that DC, MX Sports and the NPG are working on at this time. Give them some time to work on it. There are a lot of smart promoters in those groups that understand what needs to be done and will take steps to make it happen. We don’t need silly kneejerk reactions, we need the smart guys to do whatever it takes to fix it.

Whats the deal with all these AX only teams?
(arent they the ones that started it all?)
Seems like there are more AX only teams then there are SX only teams.
Why isnt anyone ever hammering on these teams/riders for not doing all the Nationals?

because I cant and wont ever have that kind of talent hence it is a privelage to be out there........riders wont be making shit if it keeps going this way......the sport will die and riders will be beggin for money in 5-10 yrs.......and my job is dangerous and life threatening and i do it for way less.........you think manufacturers want their product out their for half a year..........they will end up giving the money to privateers and let the stars of sx suffer.......it already started w/chad reed, he got 1/2 season money

Becouse most teams and riders are not good enough to compete at that level.

Because the winner (chad johnson) of the Arenacross Series tried and could not qualify for a AMA SX main event.

There is 20 extra gate spots in the Nationals. Wink
I'm sure he could make it in.... Smile
They should be the guys getting called out by the fans.
Not a guy who just swept 24 motos and has the outdoor series perfected.

THE AX GUYS ARE FAST - DONT KID YOURSELF!
i could have sworn when i was at Hangtown in 2006 , i watched Reynard holeshit and lead half the first 450 moto.
Danny Smith is also fast.

It all stems down to the TEAMS.
Maybe they wouldnt be scaping by if they did all the Nationals and proved themselves and got a decent ride.(maybe even the teams could bring in more sponsors from doing the Nats.)

Then someone will come along and say that the AX Teams can't afford to do the nationals.Well in business and especially in professional sports , the word "can't" means , they dont want to or they wont try.

Also...
James is making as much doing SX only as he made doing both SX and the Nationals.
He is being paid as much as he was when he was winning everything.
AS a fan i would rather see guys racing -not the same guy leading every moto by 30plus seconds or more.

For the benefit of the Nationals, I think the AX teams should be out there
to add to the racing-not the same guy winning by 30 seconds every weekend.
