Love the way he's been riding. Maybe a little overboard on the bar-banging, but I've really enjoyed watching him ride out of his comfort zone. Exciting for sure.

Unfortunately this appears to be netting him a lesser result than if he hadn't changed. It might be shutting up the critics, but it looks like he may have fewer points riding this way than he would have as Mr Consistent.

All of these guys are incredibly talented. Hard to pick a favorite. Just wonder if he keeps this up or dials it back a click or two?

I think he's realized the past few years that being his consistent self will always get him 2nd or 3rd in the championship, which is great, but he wants to win it. To do that, he knows he needs to be more aggressive, which might mean crashing a little bit more which is what is happening. However, to him, I think a 5th in the championship and a 2nd are the same. He's tired of not winning and he's doing what he has to do in order to win the championship. Like I said, it's obviously not working out so far, but it's what he has to do.

I think it's growing pains of learning to be aggressive. He'll find a happy middle at some point.

Exactly, it's an art to ride that line all the time. Fast-Agressive-Smart those who do win and that's all that matters.

I agree with Bandwagon and Mojoman42. I remember Ricky Carmichael's rookie season. He was all over the place, landing on hay bails over triples and just this wide-open-out-of-control riding. It's hard to watch because you want him to do well, but I think once he's accustomed to that style of aggressive riding he'll start to win races. I definitely like the fact he was one of the few jumping the quad in the main. I wonder how many pros have built that section and now practicing during the week to jump it every time around in the main? Also, since he trains in Florida I predict he'll do a lot better once races go eastward.

I totally agree. I love seeing it. I hope he gets a handle on it and starts being a threat up front. But he's not making friends right now, that's for sure!

Agreed! I think he'll get it figured out soon enough! Id like to see it happen for him.

Apart from the obvious - clutch and grip. Anyone know why the bike didn't start, has there been anymore info?

Is there a vid of the impact? I think you might have to hit someone with the force of godzilla to rip a glued and wired grip come off a bar...

In the footage they were kicking at the front end and then there was another dude with the clutch line pulled off the perch.
Maybe the brake got dinged in his collision with Stewart and then locked up?

I hate to say it because I'm a huge Dungey fan, but both crashes, one while leading and the one last night, occurred at the end of the main whoops section ... and both times it looked to me that he bailed off his bike rather than trying to ride it out. To me, it didn't even try to save it either time ... and each time it looked like he could have save it.

Reason why you hate to say it is because you maybe really shouldn't be saying it given your vantage point on your couch versus RDs vantage point .

I want the Dungey back from the 250 days, where he simply blew by guys without hesitating or taking them out....

Weird how Kenny looks so good in them.

That shot of the ktm guys kicking the front of RD's bike is the greatest piece of pit footage since Mike Larocco Sr was seen drop kicking a kx

I remember that about RC. I had some doubts about him surviving the learning curve. I shouldn't have worried. When MC was king he would come out and ride two really fast laps and then just match the pace, RC seemed to keep pushing it the entire time. Made it hard to relax.
