I always roll back to those days!! I remember RUNNING back home after school to watch the race at the random times they were on.. I got lucky growing up in Long Island and happened to live on the ONLY block on the whole island made up of hardcore riders, and my next door neighbors dad always had the races on on.

My favorite line ever spoke by Art is still preserved in Terrafirma 3 with KW "This is what we asked for, Kevin Windham with the good start, into the whoops"!!

OT, but believe it or not, we even had 2 practice tracks growing up in between the town streets! I remember their dads hauling old cars and barrels in to use as bases and piled dirt on top of it. They were legit for a track right near sunrise highway

Not a fan of Art Eckman at all. He sounded drunk, and lost for most of the broadcasts. I hated that he would cut Bailey off all the time when Bailey was making a great point.

Bailey was awesome for the information he gave, but his lack of excitement was sad along with his monotone voice.

I never thought I would say this bc i love Bailey and Eckman. But Ralph and Emig have came a long way and I love hearing them . I don't think I could listen to Bailey and Eckman for a 3 hour live broacast without going to sleep.

Emig has come a long long way, but I loved Art and Bailey. Art was just funny, didn’t know much about MX/SX but you could tell he genuinely loved it. I loved Bailey because he seemed to appreciate when someone would rail a corner or do something else amazing. He would gasp at all the same spots that I would. I watch RV rail these corners and it seems like it goes completely unnoticed most of the time nowadays.  I realize they weren't live, but remember when Bailey would have them replay in slow mo something awesome? All we get now is a suspension advertisement through the whoops. But the best was having DC trackside. He asked all the right questions, questions specific to that riders race that night. He would get real answers out of the riders and then ask them about their sponsors. This new girl (Taft?) isn’t bad though, much better than what we've had in the last few years.....

Art was the king of making an innocent comment, but came out hilarious - "....and he came right up from behind him and rammed him in the rear". He was always making some comment like that.
I know there is a YouTube video out there of Art and all his sayings.

Reese, supercross was called "live to tape" back then, and the tape was only rewound for really big disasters (missing Tortelli in the lead in 1998 at the LA Coliseum). It was the nationals that were called after-the-fact in the studio in Atlanta.

Those were great times, and I was lucky to have a little role on that team. I learned a great deal from Art and David -- and especially Scott McLemore, who is now with Lucas as a producer. I was incredibly lucky to have a front row seat to all of those great races!

Art and David are the THE voice of Motocross and Supercross. Love 'em!!

I like Ralph and Emig as well but nothing beats Eckman/Bailey. Not even close.

My favorite Art saying was "Give me some Vaseline, I'm coming through", I think McGrath was passing Henry on the WAY inside in Vegas around the 1998 vintage of time.

I have to agree... I loved Art and DB, but Emig and crew are live (lots of surprises!), and do a bang up job.

Art, DB and DC were the best imo , Fro has come long way, enjoy him. Give me someone on the floor that actually has raced and knows whats going on.

No.....Socket's opinion is wrong. Art and David were probably the best two man team that has ever announced this sport. In fact you would be hard pressed to find to many more that didn't agree with me ( and Pitbike502! ).

When an opinion is casted out......and disagrees with the entire room....it's a pretty safe bet that the said opinion is wrong.

That's what I don't get about this place......if you cast your opinion out there.......there is no wrong or right. Well......that's wrong. Especially when that opinion is way out in left field.

My opinion :......The sky is friggin' purple. It's what I see........so my opinion is automatically correct? Even though everyone else see's it as blue? But it could be purple....because that's what I see?.........Still wrong! Actually here in Oregon it's grey a lot. But you get my point.

Eckman and bailey were awesome. I still miss those guys. Fro has come a long way but he makes too big of a deal about dumb stuff. Like that dang quad in Oakland. It really wasn't that much faster. It was cool but he acted like it was gonna make or break the race. Still I guess its better than these gay replays in the whoops every single week.

You know, I've really never considered the live vs. taped angle. And no matter what, live has got to be more pressure than live to tape which makes me respect Ralph and Jeff even more. Sometimes it just seems like Ralph tries too hard to be a "cool industry insider type guy." I don't know what it is for sure, but there's something that makes him come off a little wonky and hokey at times. I do think the broadcast is better when it's just the two of them.

Art Eckman and David Bailey were just a great match-up and complemented each others style very well. Freaking loved those guys together!

For supercross I love having Emig in the booth. But for those long outdoor motos, I love hearing Bailey's analysis. I remember in 2010 he filled in for Emig at a race, and it was brilliant to hear him talk strategy.

Eckman YES, Bailey not so much. I prefer Emig over Bailey. Bailey did good but I prefer Emig.
