Hey everyone,
It's been a while since I posted on here. My question is this: What privateer(s) have you been most impressed with thus far in 2014? I do have a reason...

Thanks!

Nick Schmidt, 415 on a Honda in the 450 class. He's fun to watch ride, and seems like he's always pumped to make the main, even if he gets 4h in LCQ he's still fist pumping with excitement. Seems like he's really out for the love of the sport, Jim Holley always mentions him in the live practice and I just started taking notice to how much he really seems to enjoy riding his bike, although he missed out on A2, he made the 2 previous mains, and made the main in Vegas last season. Keep an eye out for him.

It's so hard to draw a line in the sand as to who is a privateer. Weston Peick is definitely a privateer but has a great program around him - so do you count him?

I know Chris Blose is 100% on his own and has been in 2 of the three mains. Once his only bike that he uses for practice and racing, a 2012 at that, broke and then last weekend had 4th gear go out the night before the race and had to borrow a bike, still put it in the show.

Michael Leib has a good program, but it's all provided by him and his family and scored a top 10 at A2 and an 11th at A1. The red flag while leading the LCQ in PHX ended with him on the ground on the restart, but he's definitely a privateer.

Partridge has been in the mix, but has the backing of RM ATV/MC, so does he count?

Such a cloudy line. I have no idea on the program for Aaron Siminoe, but I know he caught my eye at A1 and was going really fast. Missed the main there by 1 in the heat and LCQ but has made the past two mains.

Schmidt already mentioned has been impressive for sure as well.

Vince Friese has support for the east coast, but is doing the 450 west on his own and has been in all 3 mains.

I feel like I'm likely forgetting some guys, but those have all caught my eye. I would say Blose is doing the most with the least thus far though.

Who does Moss 102 ride for? He has looked pretty good and I've seen him near the front in the heats and semis a few times.

Weston Peick

Micheal Leib

Nick Schmidt

As to who has a Good Program? Well, it's like this: they ALL could use some more help. It's an Expensive game.

Micheal needs some serious suspension...they aren't complaining; but, he's the only guy goin that fast on honestly Stock Parts/over the shelf stock replacement parts ("Gold Valve", etc.).

Factory Suzuki.

He is on the team in Aus and I believe the team here decided to lend him a hand for the first 6* rounds.

He is running the factory yoshimura graphics same as james stewarts bike. Other than that I don't know anything. I assume hes riding under the factory tent but not getting full factory support

Incorrect. Moss is in the US on his own dime pretty much.

I'm going to add Nick Wey to what you guys have already said. He didnt ride sx at all in 2013 after his Millville back breaking crash in 2012. I was worried that he was going to embarrass himself, but he looks pretty fast and stylish to me.

Here's the link to a short article on Moss' AMA supercross efforts: 450 Words: Outside Influence

Moss is doing well - won his semi at A2, and is equal on points with Peick, and ahead of more fancied riders Tedesco, Hill, Alessi etc. Not sure what happened with him in the main at A2 though. Paging Old Mate - any word on what happened?

Cole Martinez is also doing awesome in the 250s. He's got a small program going as well.

Weston. None of the other privateers have some of the factory supported guys thinking they will likely finish behind him.
Jmo, of course.

Won his semi over Grant and Pieck, etc,Bad start in the main, went from 21st to 13th then jared his bad wrist in the stutters and couldn't hang on, would be right with top 10 on pts otherwise.

Bummer! Hope it's nothing too serious and he's ready to get back in the top 10 this weekend! I haven't heard any word on Lawson Bopping either, though I'd imagine he'll be out for a while - looks like he did some damage to that knee.

The weapon.I'm sure moss may be on his own dime, but he's no privateer. Iol .I'm not being a dick,I don't know nick Schmidt, but that's what a privateer is. Moss is parking out of a factory rig with a near works motor n suspension.nick Schmidt I don't even think has Akit stuff. I could be wrong though, but Even if he does it's not tuned as well as factory stuff

Not a privateer and on possibly the top team, but a rookie who seems to be more impressive each week and a possible podium by season end is Shane McElrath.

Topher Ingalls, #97. He qualified 19th at A1 and had some bad luck in the main. Then, he got landed on in practice at phoenix and missed the next two rounds. He'll likely do pretty well at Oakland this week and his program is full privateer out of a van.

I'm definitely bias because they're my friends, but I'm really pumped with how Cole Martinez is doing (has made all 3 250SX mains, best finish being 10th) and Chris Blose, considering his equipment situation. He was just given a brand new 2014 Honda today, so hopefully he can get it set up for this weekend.

#415 is definitely impressing me also, I knew he could ride Milestone well, but it's cool to see him applying it where it counts.

I know I haven't posted on here much, IMO the privateers that have impressed me are
#415 Nick Schmidt
#89 Michael Lieb
but also #360 Aaron Siminoe, he has made 2 out of the 3 main events in the 250 class.
