I know the crash was bad and I hope he is okay and can race next week, but at the opening race with such a stacked field it seems like you would have to try and get to the bike and see if you could finish. They had already lapped near the top 10 so he could have possibly pulled off a top 10 just cruising around.

It's too bad. He needs to be in the points race. He just walked off.

It looked like he could salvage a finish, but was too pissed? Dunno, but let's hope he is not hurt,

First thing he did was run to his bike. I don't think he didn't try.

That's not racing to win a title. That's a lot less.

Bike was broke. There are allot of things that will not allow a rider to continue and this one was bike related. Did you not see how hard that beautiful piece of machinery was tossed about. My ex use to like it rough like that but that was back in the 70s.

Bars were bent, he probably could have salvaged a few points. Magoo would have.

Looked to me like pure frustration, he gambled big and threw it away then in Classic JS7 fashion he just left the bike and walked away. Maybe he is hurt or maybe the bike was damaged but I never saw any effort to salvage any points.

Well, in truth he doesn't have a lot of titles.
He says he races to win.

Actually, with a field this deep, points are a lot easier to make up as long as RV, CR, RD aren't winning week in and week out. However, Stew does need to finish on the box from here on out.

I'm happy and sad to see this. Happy that he actually had an excuse and didn't quit for no reason. Sad that he had to quit.

Oh c'mon, those bars aren't bent that bad!!! Dungey can "air shift" with his hand over a huge triple, pfft...

Hope he's okay. Regardless if he "passed" the whoops when it happened, it was a brutal hit to his shoulder.

Someone will no doubt post that pic of Magoo riding with bent bars, but riding a modern SX track with bars like that is probably not a good idea.

Despite this photo being posted...

...we will see many posts about how Bubba just quit and should have finished.

I guess that would put a damper on the last 5 laps. I can't imagine hitting a triple or whoops with bars like that. Has anyone heard if he is injured?

I knew the Magoo reference was going to pop up after seeing the pic, and I thought the same thing. Magoo didn't have to time rhythm sections and clear 70+ ft triple with his bars like that.

I get so frustrated. Not only with his luck but also the people saying that he doesn't try. James was far and away the fastest man on the track as he started about mid pack and was about to catch Kenny (who rode brilliantly, btw).

Last year everyone complained saying he was settling for 5th and 6th etc and not really trying to win, not being Bubba and having that burning desire to win. This year, first race, he is killing it and going for the win and just an unfortunate kick sends the bike flying.

The guy can't win with the media or a lot of the fans. Aggravates me to hell.

You do realize there aren't sharks in between the jumps. Notice I said "salvaged a few points"

Let alone the gnarly whoops section(s) they had.

Why can't you guys just say.."damn he was flyin and going all out for the win"? People complain non-stop about him, he rides his ass off, and they are still questioning it? The race was awesome...

He got some points and lets be honest; after a tumble like that, I'd want to go grab a beer and take a few Tylenol. Sure he was pissed that it happened.

Gutted for Stew! Oh man I thought he was gonna have a nice come from behind win! He looked solid all night, then Supercross shows it's cruelness! He definitely made an attempt to get back on the bike. Not sure I'd wanna ride a modern supecross track with bars like that.

Wow, what a night! Sucks for stewie but that happens when you turn it up. Typical of A1, in that we don't know any more about the season than we did before the race!
