The Honda 450 is widely known for being the worst bike in the game.
Just because one game sold more than another doesn't mean it was the best game; it means it appealed to more people.
You're essentially saying that you like reflex better, and that is fine, but basing your argument on that notion is weak.
Only good keys from Alive were the rider physics in turns, using brake in turns and ease on the throttle, an the others ive posted, just saying in reflex you could scrub like a sick-o and bring it back hittin' better sized jumps ... You haven't hit triples in the AMA so you wouldn't actually know how big they actually are ... Look at the energy monster cup 2013 triple fawkin prob 80 or more feet, in video game wise it's just right in Reflex ...
Like i've said the majority wants Reflex with more SX and National tracks and more career like (EA 2000) give us a points system with just SX tracks from points till all tracks are played out to reset to 0) and just more customization ... I would only scale Reflex alittle bit it's actually pretty legit for being a old game and being the newest to reflex stick to throw your OWN scrubs or whips it's more freely , unlike alive its whack ...
Except...except....the brilliant James Stewart Compound. The Pro National tracks and both JS7 SX tracks are brilliant and the best thing in MX gaming. That is what I am looking for in the new game. Even if they don't have the license, replicate the SX tracks as closely as possible in design, lap times, feel.
Every single game theyve come out saying how they started from the ground up and built an all new enginge etc etc.. What other sports game does that?
Look at NHL, Fifa and those games. They are able to release a game every year that is just slightly tweaked, often times only for the better. They listen to the fans and change what needs to be changed and leaves the rest how it is.
The way the MX vs Atv games are built is just so hit and miss. Every new game that comes out just piles up new problems instead of them just fixing what needs to be fixed with the previous game, toss in new tracks and bikes.. And release a new game every year.
To me that seems like a no-brainer? ALOT less work and ALOT more revenue by being able to sell a new game yearly instead of every 6 years..
My vote is to get rid of the MX vs ATV branding. Why not just call it Motocross 2014 aim for a yearly released sports franchise.

I liked Reflex way better. It seemed like in Reflex the bike turned to much and was twitchy and in Alive it couldn't turn enough. Both games had good points but Reflex just has way more.
just hoping they dont try and deviate too far from what they know already works
Real bikes
Real SX/MX tracks
20 rider gates.. Hell maybe more ourdoors
Acerbis track markers that don't kill you when you hit one... Just peanalties for riding off track too long
REALISM.
Some of these car racing games I see are remarkably accurate... That's what makes it so cool to me. I don't know why game companies do not apply this to MX like they do in almost every other sport. I know some games are unrealistic, but when MX only has 1 game it needs to be treated like the premier, real, SX/MX game.
"Only good keys from Alive were the rider physics in turns, using brake in turns and ease on the throttle, an the others ive posted, just saying in reflex you could scrub like a sick-o and bring it back hittin' better sized jumps"
i think you just can't scrub in Alive... What kind of laps can you run?
And I believe triples are 72 ft if I remember correctly.
You don't see anyone but Bubba in his Kawi days scrubbing in the middle of rhythm sections.
I'm tired of people badmouthing Alive when it does more right than Reflex.. It just needs a few simple fixes..
Reflex as a few people have now stated just needed better AI (Seriously every race at Stone Point 1 half the field would turn left at the right hand corner before the finish line!) tough blocks to stay in place a little better and allow more contact between riders.
Then add that to my last post about game play career mode and my year would be ruined due to playing to much Play Station lol
@starchild, . Reflex's Supercross tracks were decent but the scale is too large, game too fast ..... I think you are alittle bit right , but who doesn't wanna throw your own personal scrub over a table top at SP1 or throw a scrub over the finish like that at FD2 ... You guys saying out of scale you most not ride dirtbikes or something makes me wonder....
Pit Row
AGREED !
Sorry for the Alive fan base your base is lookin' pretty small as this point, thread gets more posts on the daily basis...
1- more true to life track scale
2- some actual grip and not the slip and slide icy feel of Reflex
3-proof that doing a realistic replica track such as the JS7 stuff makes all the difference as those tracks are far and away superior to anything else in the series. Alive has its issues but if you deny those things then I just wonder a bit.
But hey. Let's hope we can get the best of both games. This isn't a Reflex vs Alive thread. This is a "let's celebrate we're getting a new Supercross game" thread! It's all good!
This is my what guess Nordic may do: they had a bunch of DLC sx tracks that were ready for Alive. They will use those to make the game and tweak a few settings and we will get Alive Supercross. We will wait and see.
And if it does turn out to be the missing SX for Alive then I'm perfectly fine by that. No need for any Nationals in a game called Supercross, imo. It is in the scope of a downloadable game. Focus on one thing only. Great Supercross tracks. There time constraints have to be huge so let's understand that and just be thankful they are forming a new MX vs ATV team and moving forward with the series.
1. Not being able to run solo on tracks is very weird. Especially when the AI is as bad as they are, and with the tuff block issue.. Throughout all MX games i always race by myself if im not online, because the AI has always been a horrible experience in these games.
2. The Dang clutch.. seriously. Between filling up the clutch meter, preloading, timing the push of the preload button, theres just way too much stuff going on. In Reflex, it was all so simple and smooth which made timing jumps and rythms so much more fluid. No weird power boosts or special preloads to effect the distance of your jumps, just good ole fashion timing.
3. Jump trajectory. Timing jumps is incredibly awkward when you dont know where you're going to land until you suddenly start dropping straight down. Usually when i jump my bike in real life, i always seem to follow a trajectory rather then boostin upwards real fast and suddenly dropping straight down..? haha
4. Flow. Every landing, every bump, seem to bring your speed down to a near halt... If i recall, Rainbow named their MX game engine "Rhythm Racing" which has been a very true name up until this game. It seems like no matter how perfect you land a jump, every single jump in a rhythm section is a separate obstacle instead of flowing together like in real life / the other games. Annoying.
5. The only fun i have in Alive is like others mentioned, the Stewart Compound. This seems like such a perfect idea for future games. Instead of having these huge desert areas for Freeride, just build a few different practice compounds with a few different track choices on each that you can mess around with. So much fun. Even replica Local tracks would be sweet, sign Milestone (for instance) and let us rip around whichever track we want at that facility with a few random Ai dudes practicing too.
6. The stiffness. While Reflex wasn't perfect in rider/bike animations, it was leaps and bounds better than Alive. Bike and rider seemed to be separate in Reflex, while in Alive it feels like you are just one awkward stiff giant of a dude with a bike built into his body. Weird. Reminds me kind of how the real old games, like mcm1 used to be.
7. Crashes. Who thought a black and white cut scene crash animation with a big logo thrown in your face was a good way of making you feel like you are a part of whats happening in the game? Real time crashes from the old games was so much better... The best in my mind would be back in Unleashed, before someone decided to remove ALL friction between dirt and body/bike and just let them slide awaaay like in Untamed and Reflex..But those last two are still alot better than a freakin black and white cutscene.
Random thought, crashing has never really seemed to have any impact on the outcome of a race in these games. You crash, big deal, you're up again in .3 seconds and are sometimes able to catch up before the next turn.. Id like it if crashing actually was something you'd have to try a little harder to avoid..
Anyone remember that old game EA Sports Superbike 2001? They had it so the rider had to get up, run back to his bike and pick it up before you got going again. pretty cool, and made you use a little bit more caution before trying stupid stuff.
Well shit, i certainly don't post alot on this forum, but when i do, i guess i write a damn novel. Anyways, thats my 2 cents. haha.. Cant wait to try this new game, as i am extremely nerdy for anything that lets me consume more motocross.
@00:34 secs James Steward "slides" out by giving to much thorrle (Reflex analog stick) so with everyone saying to slide too much in Reflex you do in real life too...
Also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5odqyc4qjk0 for everyone saying the scale of "Reflex" is too much well lookie here we have a supercross in real life with basically the same scale and now with everyone saying they laugh about hearing realistic your right and Reflex is a video game and comes pretty damn close too to the real life thing... That's why the 80% of the majority just want an updated version with good feature of Reflex #2
May I also add with the two YouTUBE video's that when your hitting jumps they look like they're going 20 mph and jumping straight in the air and come rocketing straight down to the floor, they're more fluid and smooth when they're riding they floating over not come crashing straight down like Alive has in their game..
I was wondering we should some how have a joker lane for the last main event of the last (SX) track after playing them all out in the online points system lmao would be something new! Hell even take out the FMX and bring in the Red Bull Straight Rhythem they're trying to bring too the sport....
Also, I downloaded reflex for PC a few days ago and although there is only a few tracks you can download, it is awesome to get some new stuff. I have downloaded A1 from 2013 (favorite track so far), Daytona 2013, and MEC 2013. All great tracks. Now i just need to upgrade my computer alittle to run the game smoother on high settings
I went to gamestop today and i was toled if i ran it on my laptop it could possibly destroy my laptop because of my gamecard isn't probably good enough ... So this was bad news i just wanna play Reflex all F'n ready on consoles!!
I thought Alive was very good for the most part. Combining the best of both games should have a pretty good end result. Looking forward to this release.
