Anyone had experiences with both these braces?

Currently using the Catalyst braces and the fit, weight, customer service are great, but the patella protection could be better. Couple crashes this year has tested the catalyst durability and patella protection.

The POD MX K700 seems to have better protection but curious what others think?

I ordered the new Alpinestars fluid pro in myself. Supposed to have them in by today. Was leaning hard toward the Pods though. I currently have the older style Asterisk Cells which protect well, but are big and bulky.

I had the POD braces and wasn't a fan of them I ended up selling them and getting the TLD. The TLD are more bulky than the PODs but they had more room in the knee area vs the PODs. I could never get the PODs to feel comfortable on me and stay up. Everyone is different and with out trying them on side by side you won't know and if you don't have the option of trying them on first then it's a shot in the dark. I have yet to see TLD knee braces ever in stock at any local shop but they always have PODs and asterisk knee braces in stock.

Appreciate the info. I love the TLD braces but the neoprene knee cup seems to move and slide around when you actually need it to stay which is in a impact. I had a crash this summer that ended in me road rashing the top of my knee cap while wearing the braces, I really was dumb founded how that shit could happen. Last weekend had a low side in a rut and some part of the bike I guess again found the chink in the TLD braces armor and bruised my right knee in the meniscus area...

I guess I could stop crashing like a squid

I have the k300's and I'm not a big fan. Have you looked at the EVS knee braces? They fit pretty well and are comfortable. I'm looking into asterisk only because the strap system.....and I can customize the color and what I want part wise on the brace.

I like the K700s better than the two pairs of Asterisks I had before them. They move much more naturally and seem to achieve "oneness" with the leg and knee. However, the knee cap protection sucks, feels cheap and provides much less coverage. I'll probably try the new alpinestars next, or try to deal with insurance etc to get some custom CTIs.

On the TLD knee braces the knee cup is a joke it does seem awful low and doesn't have enough coverage to protect your knee cap area. I notice it when I'm kneeing on the ground to work on my bike.

The knee cap on the TLD could use some improvement. But I found that once you loosen all the velcro that holds it in and actually place it in the right spot for you it stays much better.
