Yep, we bought one new in late 08. It has 100 miles on it, (160,000kms) It is truly the best vehicle we have ever owned. It has been absolutely trouble free other that two small things:

The door hinges need grease regularly. They get stiff after a couple years and lots of car washes, etc. I took them off and greased them, but didnt use thick grease, so its washing out again. Will have to do it again. Minor issue. No cost.

The back shocks went, cause my wife had the back right full of phone books in -40 weather. Yes, you read that right. -40. So, the weight was excessive, and the oil in the shocks was a weee bit thick, and the weight must have bent the valve stack in the shocks, cause the were pooched. New shocks, done at the shop, 240 bucks for good ones.

Got an exhaust leak, took it to the muffler shop. Bolts on the exhaust flange off the manifold was loose. Didnt even charge me.

It has been freaking reliable as an anvil, and we run it on farm gravel roads, and gnarly winters and snow. It gets decent mileage, but the new one with the 285 hp engine aparently gets even better mileage. The good stereo in the Sahara that we have is amazing for a stock vehicle. We would absolutely buy anouther one in a SECOND. The front brake pads have 100,000 miles on them, and they are are still 40% left! Dropped a set of back ones in at about 50,000 miles.

I see the steering stabilizer has a dent in it, and is dripping, so that will have to be replaced as well. Probably 150 installed. You will love it, if you dont expect it to be a luxury car. Its a jeep, and its awesome.

I haven't driven one with the old 3.8 so I thought the 3.6 was ok when we got it, nothing special. However with about 4k miles on it is really starting to perform liked I hoped initially. Gas mileage? It's a brick pushing through the air but stay under 70 and it can average over 21 on flat land. Better than my F150 which I think is more aerodynamic by about 3-4 mpg.

My first vehicle was a 1978 cherokeeS with the 401. Lots of good times In that truck. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for jeeps of all kinds!

I bought a brand new CJ-7 with a hard top in 1980. It was my first new vehicle. Loved that thing till I rolled it a few years later! Laughing

Back when I was in the military (1989-1993), I had a 1984 Jeep CJ-7. It had the inline-6; slight lift; headers; dual exhaust; Weber carb; and 33" tires. I LOVED that rig. I sold it in about 1995, and have wanted to replace it ever since.

So, about 2 weeks ago, I bought a 1988 Suzuki Samurai. It has the 1.3 liter 4 cylinder; Weber carb; headers; Calamini 4" lift; 30" tires; new top; new seats; and the interior is Rhino lined. Gets about 20 mpg, and only does about 60 mph, but it is a lot of fun. Cannot wait for the summer.

I remember when those Samurais were selling like hotcakes. My then wife's cousin actually started an Samurai accessory company and was selling his products through dealers until whoever it was killed the Suzuki with it's roll over story.

I also had a 73 CJ-5. 304 AMC V-8, 3 speed on the floor, a steering wheel as big as a bus steering wheel. And it was so rusty I looked like Pigpen driving down 183 in Austin with the cloud of rust particles trailing behind me.

Had and '82 CJ-7 with an AMC 360 with 35"s and loved it. Had to sell it to move to California. I'll get another one someday and build it back up.

Have fun with that new jeep. I'd loose the doors and the top and forget where you put them.

Jeeps, like women, are better top-less. haha

I agree but for now its wife's daily driver. Her boss may not like her showing up like this.

Jeeps are fun, our family loves the Jeep. Enjoy, just be careful with the modifications. They can get EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!

Yeah right. You couldn't afford a '93 and we both know it.
