Seems obvious to me: YOT defector who rode almost zero AMA races this year thumbs a ride to Europe with a couple handfuls of "borrowed" YOT suspension, wins qualifier, wins first WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP moto.
The only conclusion we can draw is that the GP series is obviously a notch or two below the speed of the "B" final amateurs at Loretta's...it is proven!
Or could it be possible that Zach was the recipient of a right wrist full of good karma for being the ONLY RIDER FROM THE AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES TO ATTEND THE BIG AIR KID'S FAIR AT LOMA LINDA CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL back in January of this year!
As a favor to GEOFFGEOFFGEOFF I will go with the karma being the factor...
Peace out, crew!

And Marc De Reuver has been running 13 the entire race and he beat all "your guys" a week ago.
I prefer to see it as a great moto by Zach and that he is really developing into a great rider.
Also good too see someone new at the top in the mx2 class, been quite boring lately (atleast comparing to mx1).
Anyways congrats too Zach and hope he can do it again in the second moto!

I was just hucking a chum line for that Aussie rat bastage, MX Geoff, to choke on...!
I give you a 9.5 on execution and a 7.5 on difficulty
That sounds about right.
Again, he was at top ten speed in the mx class last week wasn't he?
Once again Zachs result doesn't tell the story of his day. 8th overall is all the record books say but his speed was awesome. I think that may have been the best track for him to get a podium on as Lierop and Faenza are a million miles away from what they race in the US but he's such a promising talent you wouldn't bet against him. Anyone that can holeshot against those Factory KTMs is clearly on it.
Pit Row
Good to see Zach reborn hard.
America #1
Congrats to Zach!
I really don't understand it but this track seems to suit the american guys perfect. A moto win for Zach Osborne and Jacob Saylor who rode in 15th position while normally he can't even qualify for a GP.
According to me this track was the worst of the entire 2008 world championship. It was not a GP worthy imo and still it suited the american guys. I really don't understand why. After moto 1 there was a small interview with Tyla Rattray and said this track looked like an american track. Fast turns with high berms. You could keep the throttle wide open for practically the entire lap and that is why the american riders were fast according to Tyla.
Does Zach's moto win prove that the GP series are 3rd grade ? I doubt it. As said before...Marc could not keep up at all today and he was the 2nd fastest on the track last weekend in Southwick. It all depends on how the track suits the riders.
btw... for those who think that Tommy Gun will next year turn a few heads in the AMA series : "i doubt it". Some people seem to think that he will be able to fight with the leaders but i don't buy that for 1 second. Tommy is nowhere near the level of Ben Townley when Ben rode GP's and we all saw how Ben struggled when he went to the states. I think Tommy will have a very tough time in America.
Post a reply to: So Zach's win is the Final Proof that the GPs are 3rd rate series, right Geoff?
