I'm considering going up there for a month or two stay for a short employment opportunity. Wondering if there are good tracks close? And when are they open? I should say the existence of some sort of mx scene out there will weigh heavily on whether or not I go and possibly for how long. I'm hoping to earn my outdoor license next year but obviously that means I'll need to practice. Thanks in advance to anyone who shares.

Oh and I forgot, I'm not sure if the landing mx is still open or not, that's Easton Maryland, right across the bay bridge.

I live an hour south of DC. I moved here from western pa (District 5/ PAMX region... high point, steel city, pleasure valley, all eastern ohio tracks blah blah) and the MX scene here SUCKS compared to that.

That being said, psc pretty much hit the nail on the head. Look up Masters of MX series, AMA D-13 and D-7, and Mid Atlantic Motocross Association. All the tracks in those series/ districts are the ones that will be close..ish to DC. Also, go on facebook and look up Dawsons MX. Its a decent ways south of DC but its sick.. real sick.

These guys have pretty much covered it, but Budds is your best bet...about 45 mins SE of the District. If you're just looking for an open track day, Budds only has those on the first weekend of the month, FYI.
Tomahawk is about 1 hour 15-20 mins away. The other tracks listed are on the other side of the Chesapeake Bay and are quite a ways from DC. Easton is closed indefinitely. Seaford, Blue Diamond and Snake Creek are in Delaware.
The MX scene in the MD/NVA area is pretty shitty, as you see the tracks are all mostly 80-100 miles outside of the city. Dwindling areas of land + hordes of yuppies = No Moto.

Tomahawk is my home track and it is an awesome facility run by great people.

Budds is the mother of all mx tracks. It's legendary. I recommend racing there as much as you can. Bring your balls. Woohoo
