Hello my fellow Vital members!

I am taking a trip leaving next Friday October 4th and will be returning home October 18th. Here are a few stats:

Age: 24
Bike: 2010 Goldwing or 2012 Connie. Not sure yet!

I will be staying in Chicago the first night, Indy the second night, and would like to stay in Tennessee for a few nights before making my way into Florida. From Florida, I will travel a few days to Austin Texas to meet up with my brother and then travel to Stillwater Oklahoma which is where I am originally from!

I do not have any hotel reservations and am planning on tenting it for a lot of the trip. no routes, no plans, just some time on a bike!

I would love to meet up with a few Vital members for a beer, dinner, or come out and watch a practice or race. Since my schedule is so flexible, let me know and I will see if I can swing by.

Also, if any of you would be interested in renting a room for a night or two in said area's, I would entertain that also. I would much rather pay someone else who rides $50 to stay in their bed as opposed to a hotel etc.

I will make sure to take lots of pictures and document what I can.

Cheers!

In Texas West of Austin is a town called Camp Wood. Find it and ride the "Three sisters". You won't regret it. Also
Enchanted Rock State Park
Luckenbach Tx
Pedernales State Park.

if you make it to TN you have to go to the dragon. Google it and you will get an idea. it's in east TN on the NC border... watch out for cops but still a fun ride. my dad just got back from there two weeks ago (on his goldwing but there are ton of crotch rockets)

PS: my dad stayed at Fontana Village (Very close) he does not spend much $$ on lodging so i would guess that the rates are very reasonable.

good luck, be safe and have fun

For spring break I went to TN, stop at Smokey Mountain national park and do some hiking. I heard the dragon is a good experience so would recommend that also. Have a safe ride, hope you aren't going thru Chicago, I hate driving that in a car can't imagine those crazy FIBs driving next to me while I'm on a bike!

Downtown Nashville is where the majority of the bars/honky tonks are. Think of all the people that move to nashville trying to break into the music biz. Great musicians all playing for free... also dont think that there will be only Nashvillians there, most of the people will be from out of town and very nice... you will see multiple bachelorette parties. plenty of places to go there and plenty to see

A short ride (1 mile or less) from downtown is a place called the tin roof. this used to be THE place to go for singles. I have not been in years (married now) but would guess that it is still a good scene. Young professionals, Vandy kids and a ton of good looking women. We went there almost every weekend! It was the best

FYI: take a cab if you plan on drinking, nashville is tough for DUI's

The dragon is an awesome place for bikes but it is extremely dangerous. I live about 10 minutes away from the tail of the dragon on the Tennessee side, and throughout the summer there are pretty regular life star visits to that stretch of road, so be careful. I would recommend the Cherohala Skyway and foothills parkway as well. The views on each of these are unmatched by pretty much anywhere in the southeast.

To bad you are not going to be around for the Muddu Creek finale Oct 18-20. I could have helped you out on that one.

If you are riding the dragon take the Connie way more nimble than a wing.
Then again the comfort of the Wing is hard to beat out on the open road.
Sounds like a fun trip,be safe.

Downtown Nashville is a must go do. Ive been to a lot of places, and cannot stand crowds and city situations (have been to Baltimore, LA, Chicago, Detroit, Delhi, Katmandu, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, Vegas, and probably others) and I love Nashville. It is nice....different vibe. Not sure how to explain it.

when headed from Fla. to Austin you will probably be on the 10 west and the GPS will route you to the 12 bypass of New Orleans. If you decide to stay 10 and breeze N.O. I am 20 mi west of it right off 10. If its the weekend of 10/11 I'll be out of town. However, any other days give me a shout.

oh! ditto that $hit about Monster Mountain!
