Those are great photos. I believe it was an old Motocross Action magazine from '76 that had a color photo of Steve Wise on the factory Kawasaki, coming down on the front wheel. If I remember correctly, just to the outside of Wise was a rider in a Humble Yamaha jersey, number 439. That had to be you looking at these pics.

On second thought, it may have been Dirt Bike magazine. I distinctly remember the photo. I probably still have the mag somewhere. Have a ton of oldies stuffed in Rubbermaid containers stacked in the garage.

Glen,
I saw a picture of you later in the season at the 1976 Houston race with you on a Yamaha without water cooling and with stock forks (with canisters on top). You finished in top 10 that day. Is this correct and if so, why did you get rid of water cooling and Marzocchi forks?

I had major problems with the routing of the front brake cable and it kept locking up the front wheel so took the watercooling off. I could not get the thing to turn with the Marzochis so I went back to stock.

The pic in Dirt Bike/MXA is from the Nat in San Antonio and it's Mickey Kessler. I was having ignition problems and was trying to limp home. Pat Alexander (Brocs mechanic) helped me for moto 2. Steve was back on his Honda. He started right next to me one moto and most riders jumped the gate which never fell and his bike seized that lap costing him dearly in points.
