I understand the defense of Jeff, but lets get real here...just because you know somebody, doesn't mean you KNOW somebody. Let me let you in on a secret, addicts are the best damn liars in the world. I'm not saying he's an addict, but don't think because you know someone personally, you know for sure they couldn't be involved in such a thing. That's just straight up ignorance. Folks operate perfectly normal on pain killers, it's not some visually obvious change like speed or heroin, but the disease of it is just as strong as either.
Lets all hope for the best and that he has the strength to pull this. If he was using, I'm sure as shit he's going through withdrawals while being locked up and that some fucked shit right there. It's all speculation, but it's real and happens to the most unlikely folks you'd ever think of.
Billy had a bad addiction along with a couple other industry guys . They all traveled down the wrong road together but last time I talked to him he was over it and working on becoming a firemen. People have ways of hiding an addiction. I just don't get why he would travel tjisroad with the family he had and the business he could've working in.

I blame the doctors, do they give enough counciling for this drug before prescribing it?
It can then lead to other drugs if they can't get it anymore. Peter Jackson and famous League guy, OD in his hotel on Herion... No one knew and he played for QLD and Australia and was one of the best in his era..
Scarry.
They are all opiate based narcotics. Heroin was just a brand name, the same drug by another name doesn't make it any safer, or less sleazy.
This shit ruins people's lives. I don't give a shit if it was prescribed by a doctor or made in a sanitary laboratory. They're nasty fucking drugs and IMO have no business being handed out like candy the way you guys do down there.
My thing about getting real is that just because you think you know someone, doesn't mean they don't do shady shit. Yes, if you'd like to know, I've been there done that.
too many people get wrapped up in this stuff and go down the wrong path
Pit Row
This does not necessarily mean Billy is a bad guy but he obviously needs some help.
People can blame it on the cops but that is just bullshit, they are just doing their jobs. 2 week investigation and 50k bail obviously means it was not a random arrest. I wish him and his family the best
Billy could be a great guy that made bad decisions. It happens, and not everyone is as judgmental as MotoRoger above. Hopefully he can turn his life around after he (presumably) gets out.
I agree this is worthy to talk about on a mx board but I also understand how shitty it is for the person involved. I hope he can get the help he needs before it's too late and the system doesn't screw him over. In NC the drug laws are tough. I was able to get a good lawyer and still ended up with a misdemeanor record even though I had no prior record, even a traffic ticket. The justice system doesn't understand addiction. I formed my own business several years ago because I can no longer get a decent job with even a misdemeanor let alone a felony.
It's crazy how typical it is to hear about these days and I would beg all racers to skip the opiates when possible.
And to those that still think it's a big fucking joke, more power to you and I am happy you don't have to deal with this shit because I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
