Lets not all bury our heads in the sand and pretend this shit doesn't happen.

I understand the defense of Jeff, but lets get real here...just because you know somebody, doesn't mean you KNOW somebody. Let me let you in on a secret, addicts are the best damn liars in the world. I'm not saying he's an addict, but don't think because you know someone personally, you know for sure they couldn't be involved in such a thing. That's just straight up ignorance. Folks operate perfectly normal on pain killers, it's not some visually obvious change like speed or heroin, but the disease of it is just as strong as either.

Lets all hope for the best and that he has the strength to pull this. If he was using, I'm sure as shit he's going through withdrawals while being locked up and that some fucked shit right there. It's all speculation, but it's real and happens to the most unlikely folks you'd ever think of.

My hope is, even if for some reason he wasn't guilty, he learns and realizes that hanging out with the wrong people lead to the wrong things, and that he can move forward in his life helping/doing something positive.

Why do people feel the need to throw people's personal lives out like this, iv known billy since I was 4 n he use to take me n mike riding so I would be shocked to hear that he's the one selling that stuff especially with all his injuries I could see him being at the wrong place at the wrong time buying pain killers for himself, I don't know that n I haven't seen billy in over a year but he's never came off as that type of person so I don't believe he's out slangin on the streets.
Jeff, tell your dad the old wheely king of Simi says hi.

Billy had a bad addiction along with a couple other industry guys . They all traveled down the wrong road together but last time I talked to him he was over it and working on becoming a firemen. People have ways of hiding an addiction. I just don't get why he would travel tjisroad with the family he had and the business he could've working in.

Oxy is a terrible pain killer but it is prescribe to people all the time. A friend of mine boke both elbow racing, they had him on 40m Oxy and just kept giving it to him. He said it was the hardest thing he had to over come, then goes and spiral fractures his femur and yep they prescribe it again..

I blame the doctors, do they give enough counciling for this drug before prescribing it?

It can then lead to other drugs if they can't get it anymore. Peter Jackson and famous League guy, OD in his hotel on Herion... No one knew and he played for QLD and Australia and was one of the best in his era..

Let me start off by saying I'm in no way defending the illegal sales of prescription drugs, buuuuut........it's not like what he was allegedly doing was some huge shocking crime of the century. You can go on just about any street in any neighborhood these days and find someone selling Norcos or Percocets......hell, its probably easier to find than weed these days. I've known lots of people over the years that have had an RX for painkillers for whatever reason and times have gotten tough for them and somebody offered to buy them from them, so they would end up selling them for a few bucks. I could see if he was trafficking them or had a huge illegal operation going on (which it didn't say) but if he was selling a few pills to help get by......then big deal, that's my thought anyway. And like I said, I'm not defending drug sales on the streets and I would never personally sell my pills (there too precious to me Tongue ) but there are worse things out there in the world.

I think that the post coming from Jeff Allessi was amazing. As an ACTUAL athlete and former champion at times of this sport (not just a fan) he knows the struggles these guys go through with the immense amount of injuries that come along with racing. And the fact that i personally KNOW he has known Billy since he was a little kid and KNOWS Billy is a good person and an amazing athlete is enough to make me just ignore any and all negative posts coming out about this. I doubt any of you know him and I happen to know that the story behind all of this is NOT what was printed in the newspapers. It is so far from the truth it makes me sick. Just like Jennifer Anniston is pregnant again or some crap. Lol if any of you had a CLUE the kinds of things people come up with about ANYBODY who is even slightly famous you would just shut your mouths. And maybe think about the family that is having to see all this and that poor kid who was nothing but a great athlete who had one too many injuries. That's it and that's all. This sport has been a part of my entire life and I am grateful for that...injuries or not. Just remember that every one of you that have something bad to say are just as vulnerable to this kind of nightmare. Especially in the corrupt and twisted county of Ventura. The cops were even asking him why he SWITCHED FROM KAWI TO HONDA BACK IN THE DAY?!?!! They are losers and just wanted to make an example out of Billy because their town went from the "safest city in the country" to the HEROIN CAPITOL OF THE COUNTRY. GOOD JOB SVPD AND VCPD. YOU GUYS ARE REALLY HELPING

Selling oxy, norcos and percosets is no different than selling heroin.

They are all opiate based narcotics. Heroin was just a brand name, the same drug by another name doesn't make it any safer, or less sleazy.

This shit ruins people's lives. I don't give a shit if it was prescribed by a doctor or made in a sanitary laboratory. They're nasty fucking drugs and IMO have no business being handed out like candy the way you guys do down there.

What is that supposed to mean? I never said I didn't. Do you have a reading comprehension issue?

My thing about getting real is that just because you think you know someone, doesn't mean they don't do shady shit. Yes, if you'd like to know, I've been there done that.

I've seen a few lives ruined. I haven't heard anyone preach about how the addiction to oxy changed their lives in a positive light. Street sellers look for weak minded people and once someone is hooked they also become a great low level "mule" to peddle and move the shit. I have no opinion of Payne's arrest and he's entitled to his day in court.

Well, they (like all of us) need help, not to be told on. Just sayin. I guess I feel that the motocross community needs to stick together and not bash it's own.

He at one time was addicted to pain pills from what I have heard. Now he is busted for selling them, which is common among addicts to help fund their addiction. It is very common in all walks of life and even more so in sports due to injuries and ignorant Dr's.

This does not necessarily mean Billy is a bad guy but he obviously needs some help.

People can blame it on the cops but that is just bullshit, they are just doing their jobs. 2 week investigation and 50k bail obviously means it was not a random arrest. I wish him and his family the best

And again....I know that information is available to the public , and possibly Billy was in the wrong place at the wrong time......just don't agree with these types of threads.

And BDB......it wasn't directed at you man. I am thinking just in general terms here. Kind of a bummer thing to read about ya know? bad vibe shit.

You and Jeff Alessi better ask racerx the same question, it's posted on racerhead. Shame on them Wink

I think the reason this is important to bring up is that guys get hurt riding and can easily slide into addiction to pain killers. Watson used to talk about this all the time on Pulp. It's a good idea to bring this subject to the fore so that riders are aware of this danger.

Billy could be a great guy that made bad decisions. It happens, and not everyone is as judgmental as MotoRoger above. Hopefully he can turn his life around after he (presumably) gets out.

Well, let me start by saying I raced mx for many years and broke, dislocated many bones. I really enjoyed the pills when I got them. Then one day it hit me, I wanted some even though I wasn't hurt. Now, 10 years later MY LIFE IS RUINED! I let down a lot of people and became the best liar in the world. I did get arrested too. I have been on maintenance Suboxone for 7 years now and it's harder to quit than the damn opiate I was popping. This has changed me and DESTROYED the person I used to be. For many people, they see it as a choice or just a joke but I can assure you that for some it's the devil.

I agree this is worthy to talk about on a mx board but I also understand how shitty it is for the person involved. I hope he can get the help he needs before it's too late and the system doesn't screw him over. In NC the drug laws are tough. I was able to get a good lawyer and still ended up with a misdemeanor record even though I had no prior record, even a traffic ticket. The justice system doesn't understand addiction. I formed my own business several years ago because I can no longer get a decent job with even a misdemeanor let alone a felony.

It's crazy how typical it is to hear about these days and I would beg all racers to skip the opiates when possible.

And to those that still think it's a big fucking joke, more power to you and I am happy you don't have to deal with this shit because I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
