Searle vs Desalle: the reaction…
July 14, 2013 by Adam Wheeler

One of the biggest talking points from the MXGP of Finland was the ‘battle’ between Tommy Searle and Clement Desalle. Here is what both had to say…
Searle: “The backmarkers held me up which is the only reason he was able to catch me again. He passed me once – dirty – and then I got him back so-cleanly at the top of the hill; I had way-more of an opportunity to hit him or put him off the track but I did it cleanly. We came down to the double and he pushed me wide and off course. I got back in front and then he cleaned me out.”
Desalle: “There was a lot of fighting with Tommy in the second moto but this is racing. He showed that he wasn’t going to let me pass. He came close and I wanted to show that I am also there and if he wanted to do ‘that’ then I would also.”
Searle: “I don’t know why [he did it] because you cannot pass in that corner. He came away second and I leave with eleventh, so it worked out for him but it was a bit silly. Obviously it is disappointing when you ride well and stuff happens like that. It was a bit out of line what Desalle did, but it happened and we’ll move on to next weekend.”
Desalle: “They made the track like it is only one line so if you want to pass then you have to take more risks to overtake the guy in front and you can lose a lot of time. I did my best today and I am happy to be on the podium again.”
Searle: “In one way I’m happy because my riding is good. This is my first year in the championship and it is all about building. I think everyone can see my pace is getting where it needs to be. For me realistically the results don’t matter too much because I’m not going for a championship or a top three finish in the class. Whether I’m fucking fifth, sixth or seventh it makes no difference to me. I want to win championships…so this year is just about building.”

PhilG above has it right - 25 is a fuc**ng full on faggot with Cairoli whenever he comes close, the reason being is AC will give it back and probably a lot faster as well - as small as Cairoli is he is gnarly bastard when its time to play dirty and he has proven that previously with 25, Desalle should know better - he clearly rides in his safety blanket since his string of injuries and then he looks to impose moves like that on other riders ultimately risking safety !
I am sure he will get a nice welcome come the British GP.

which should have been followed swiftly by:
Can you count how many passes were made that didn't involve blatant take outs? A LOT !

It's such a shame as well as it makes you dislike racers that you want to like, it's not like the days gone by where DP19 and others were constantly taking each other out and playing rough - that was a given and almost accepted by all involved as they all seemed to take part and it was tit for tat - but lately it's beyond a joke and especially when it's really not warranted, sometimes i wish there was somebody pulling them up for it and actually docking them points to reign it in a bit, for instance did you see some of the shit Dedycker pulled with JVH earlier this year? He was blatantly just stopping mid corner and watching his line in order to fuck him up, it's like - hey he is new, younger, weaker - get the little bastard, who does he thiink he is racing competitively in the big class.
Grow up and race FFS
They can all get their own back IMO - I expect Paulin is dying to give AC a little taste, he has really surprised me with how refrained he has been, fair play to him for concentrating on the racing.
Desalle is in the same boat, i dont see either of them getting closer to AC, who is riding injured at the minute anyway, getting beat by Stribos who shops at the same cherry shop as DeDyker, hasnt helped... they are good fast riders but you can see that they dont like the new breed coming through.
As for Searle, he hasnt impressed me on a 450 since the Nations in 2011, until the last 3 or 4 Gp's where he suddenly looks like the real deal, which i think is more down to good management , needing to stay in one piece is paramount, and as we have seen with Frossard, its as easy to be the next has been , as it is the next big thing.
Searle however saw Desalle coming from halfway true the turn he should have known he was in a lost position at that time if he would step 2 sec on his rear brake he would pick up right behind him, but no he wants to stay in it like a boss and got taken out like a boss, the only person to blame here is Searle himself for being a dumb ass
Of course you're going to support your country man. Looking forward to #100 passing #25 in the next gp.

Err, hold on...
And you're forgetting that DeSalle also jumped the yellow flag.
Remember? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVJWeXijdzM
i am not here saying 100 is a saint by no means, i am saying it was B.S and simply not called for.
Yes Tommy was faster a few laps earlier. But he lost speed after he passed him and Desalle was able to return to him after a couple of laps.
And i will also state that it may not have been the cleanest pass but in my opinion it was not that dirty at all its not like he T-boned him just a nice shoulder to shoulder battle , whats that saying again ? Rubbing is racing
FYI blokpasses always come from inside so, not expecting him is one thing not seeing him is another if you see the reflexes Paulin had to his rodeo take of side saddle lander i assume Tommy has experience enough to realise that he just had to tap his rear brake
Also i would like to say that the sanctions that youthstream puts out r only because there was a bunch of bitching about it, if there where handshaking afterwords there was no way there would be a sanctioning
It is what it is - that is not rubbin' and it's not racin'

I've got my head in my hands.
It is the FIM who sanction riders and whom, contrary to what you claim, ''acted on their own accord with the actions of 25 as CLS did NOT officially lodge a protest''.
