I know Dungey can get emotional and he certainly has the right too of course, especially after the Moto 1 DNF....But He does tend to get a little whiney when things go bad for him for a change..Mechanical is bad luck, but I was pretty amazed he eluded to the lapper being the reason why he did the front wheel dig and flip in moto 2.... From the couch, it appeared the lapper dude was a few bike lengths ahead and I dont think contributed at all to Dungeys crash...... thoughts anyone?

He had to change lines. I can easy see it as a reason for crash. He tried to get to the inside but couldn`t get rear wheel out of the rut.

he might have had to change the line he was going for because of the lapper. It didn't look like the lapper caused it, but I can't count how many times I have hit the dirt trying to guess what a slower rider is going to do. I also don't believe he was getting whiney, if he says the lapper contributed to it, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. He doesn't seem like the person to blame others for his mistakes, but I don't know him personally so who knows.

nah, i see it as his rear wheel starts sliding out and his front wheel hooks and turns in the same rut he was trying to follow. it didn't look anything like changing lines. it didn't look like the lapper had anything to do with it to me.

but i'm watching from a video, only Dungey knows for sure.

Dungey has never been one to place blame on anybody, he's always been a stand up guy. Who knows, riding at the speed he was riding at and running up on a slower rider, maybe feeling he had to switch lines at the last second because the other rider was going to be in the way, so it forced him into a mistake. Shit happens, Dunge seems like an honest guy so all I can do is take his word for it, not saying its true, but...

Frodad78.... Funny, I wondered if he was going to thank the man above......I dont think he did this week

rewatching the footage above...I dont think he was changing lines or anything...lapper is clearly not an issue and is closer to RV thand Dungey..... Dungey always makes statements and lists a few things as to why things didnt work out for him, then follows up with " but no excuses"....that always bugs me....glad dude is ok and there is pleanty of racing left...both Dungey and RV know anything can happen....

Indeed BoobyM.... Thats what I am doing....I just asked for people thoughts is all....no excuses

Its funny to read these comments and I was waiting for the enevitable... I remember a certain race last year where someone ran across the track and that "distracted" a certain rider of pro zenithMX elite, causing (allegedly) that rider to loose concentration and fall which was widley discredited...now we hear wonder boy Dungey elude to the fact a lapper (who he could see for quite some time) may have caused him to crash and all the sudden the theroy of" distraction" is suppported......thats the type of opinion I was looking for, the aka "double standard"

The lapper could have easily distracted him though, basically the same thing as that photographer at Thunder Valley last year with Stewart.

Let's see,,,,, one rider crashes three seconds after a guy runs across the track in front of him and one guy crashes with a guy right in front of him? Wow, I'm on your side this time AC. Clearly, it's at least a double standard. Maybe even racial.

RD1 was not whining on the podium. He mentions the lapper but does not blame him. He then goes on to describe what happened with his line and the result of that choice. there is a difference between being disappointed and being a whiner. With two laps to go RD1 was charging hard and inching up on Poto. From here the facts go to personal opinion. I believe that Ryan thought he had a chance to catch Poto and battle for the win. I think his brain was a little ahead of the game. But in the end he did what we've been asking him to do... which is to race his a** off. God I love this sport! Both Ryan's self analyze constantly. They know whats up.

Yea man, I thought he held good composer and kept his dignity like usual. There wasn't any whining, he answered the question and explained what he thought happened. Hes the guy that crashed, so I'm sure he knows more of what really happened more than some of these arm chair moto analyst..

I'd be throwing my helmet, kicking my bike off the stand, screaming F-bombs, blaming lappers, cussing the chick for asking, then apologizing later.

Bike won't start and DNF, goggle streamers, weird crash and another 5 pts. and possibly the championship chase out the window... I'd say he gets a pass.

BTW, were you the guy whining and about the TV coverage from your AC'd couch?

Jlong - No sir, although the coverage isnt perfect (it never will be in this forum ) I am thankful for what we have.....they are working on the coverage and it gets better each year....the plane crash screwed the pooch for many folks and that is just unfortunate disaster...

To be clear on my post, I said he gets emotional and has whined and is known to whine (off camera mostly) in the past and to me it sounded like he saying the lapper played a role in his crash.........my goal was to see how many folks would say " yes, the lapper did distract him".... because last year the there was so many " the guy crossing the track didnt distract James" comments....to where in this case he was behind the guy for 3 turns.....

I don't know how you come up with Ryan whining, he could not see him because of the goggles problem until it was to late. Ryan in no way put any blame on the lapper.

Frigin simple...

He was asked his perspective. He said the lapper made him hesitate and he crashed. I'm sure if you want to take him to court he could also disclose that the lack of visibility due to the malfunctioning rolloffs were causing hazardous conditions.

Well there's only one person in the whole wide world that knows what happened and the "how and why" it happened concerning his crash and that's Dungey.

It's ironic that Dungey has managed to front flip two times at Red Bud.

The roost from that lapper wouldn't have been fun. But yeah you're exactly right, Dungey does get a bit emotional. like when he was complaining about that pass RV put on him saying "I'll remember that" and there was nothing in it. It was a textbook pass with no contact.

Changed lanes due to a lapper and goes over the bars. Lapper was well out in front of him that obvious so he changes to setup for the jump fairly routine. Shit happens the only way to prevent that is to start pulling lappers off the track which will never happen. Lappers are part of the sport you have to deal with them.
Now when James Stewart changes lanes and crashes because of someone being in his way all hell breaks loose and theres no way that person made him crash...........
One of these days you will all wake up and ....... ahhh fuck it thats never gonna happen.
