don't see an aluminum frame in any of the pics. sure the updated plastic and graphics will help on some sells, but not sure about a HP boost......

Frame looks the same might sell a bunch of plastics to update the older bikes running around and at least give them a fresh look

better keep your RM's, KX appears to have caught up to the RM and YZ, Whats different? valving and plastic, Great now you can adjust the rebound and the radiator has an extra row, They said nothing about the piss poor bottom ends which is the biggest issue

I guess I'm a little disappointed, but I completely understand. Upon first glance the new bodywork looks a million times better than the 1980's style fenders on the 2013. But as I stare at the above pic, it looks basically like my son's 2010 KX85 with new plastic. It seems Kawasaki made some minor/moderate upgrades that were much needed, but it's not a total redesign from the ground up like a lot of us were expecting. However, hopefully this will keep the cost down so more families can afford to ride/race motocross while still giving junior a better bike than previous KX85s/KX100s. From a completely selfish standpoint, I was hoping for a new from the ground up bike which would hopefully enable me to find a sweet deal on a 2013 KX100! LOL

Updates include:

More powerful 2-stroke Single

A low-friction piston, new KIPS valve and numerous other updates give these liquid-cooled, 2-stroke racing engines increased power and torque across the rev range. Peak power is almost 20% greater compared to the MY13 KX85.

Rigid, high-tensile steel perimeter frame

Sturdy perimeter frame enables young riders to push hard on the track.

6-position handlebar

A choice of six positions allows riders to tailor their riding position.

Petal disc brakes

Disc brakes front and rear ensure strong stopping power with excellent control. Now with petal discs, just like the larger KX models.

Uni-Trak rear suspension

Revisions to the rear shock contribute to a more stable ride feel, and offer increased adjustability and lighter weight.

36 mm inverted fork

Revised fork offers improved damping and bottoming resistance, enabling higher-paced riding and contributing to increased ride comfort.
Factory styling

All-new bodywork and racy graphics ensure the new bikes will look good in the winners’ circle. Black alumite1 rims, black fork guards, and blue alumite1 finish on the suspension adjusters further strengthen their factory image.

we rode the kawis for a year when my son got on 85s. great beginner bike and they corner well. right off the bat you have to sink a grand into the forks because the old bike had co compression adj on the forks. its looks like the basic bike is the same for the most part.with a few new upgrades. we had a fox forks. pr2 link pc powervavlve and a ton of stuff done just to try to make it on par with a stock yz 85. still looks like to me the ktm and the yz are the top dogs

I am just glad to see it is not a 150F. Not a fan of that trend

How do they actually stack up performance wise?

Going by 125/250 and 250/450 theory the'd be dominant but maybe the small displacement doesn't work?
