What's the hold-up? Why aren't they riding the new bikes? They are all over dealerships throughout the galaxy so isn't that all that needs to happen to make them eligible for AMA competition? What are the JGR boys waiting for?

That would be my guess too but would it really take THAT long to get one set-up at least CLOSE???? It's not like either JG or JB are in the title hunt. What's the worst that could happen? They get top 15 like every week (no offense to them, I know there have been injuries) and get a head start on the race settings for the 2014?

Just my opinion but I think they should be on the 2014s already.

Probably because JGRs bikes are basically a 2014. Remember JGR has been running this design that Yamaha finally adapted this year. Slimmer tank and shrouds, relocated motor, wrap around exhaust, etc. I don't think their in a hurry to change to a new bike in the middle of the season when it's a copy of the race bike they've been running the past few seasons.. They need time to test and develop the bike, work out the corks, etc. I'm sure well see it at MEC I'm sure!!!

The last time I asked J-Bone about it, he said that they haven't done any testing on them, have budgeted equipment for the '13s through the end of the season, and it'd likely be the Monster Energy Cup before they race the new bikes.

I think it's because of the production rule.

Any 2014 yamaha's have been sold, so they can't run in AMA championship whit it.

It's like KTM 2 years ago, which had to commercialized few 2012 450's "Dungey replica" before the usual lauch of the range.

At least SOME of them have been sold and besides, I thought the rule was that they simply have to be AVAILABLE for sale? I have never heard that they have to actually sell "x" number of models to be eligible. I believe the rule is they have to have "x" number of models on dealership floors, which I'm assuming Yamaha has already.

If my memory is good, it's at least 100 models.

It was at one point 450-400 units for sale, not sold.

Don't know if that number has changed recently

The number is 400 units available, not sold. And the manufacturer has to pay the homologation fee of $3000 and submit paperwork and provide a frame and parts to AMA pro racing for the new model to be approved. I have not seen any reports regarding Yamaha getting early approval for the 2014 models yet.

From the 2013 AMA homologation application
"The following items must be supplied to AMA Racing by the manufacturer / distributor for technical identification purposes. The manufacturer / distributor is required to make all efforts possible to deliver the parts and information to the AMA office no later than 30 days prior to the first event that the new model will compete in (15 days for early model homologation). If the parts and information have not been delivered to the AMA by the first event that the new model will compete in, the motorcycle used in competition may be impounded until they are available.

I guess the motor mounts are a little different which would force the team to develop the motor and dive into it and at this point, they don't have the time. If they could drop their existing motor into the '14 chassis then they'd probably be at least trying them now.

its safe to assume the motor mounts would be different seeing that it has a new motor and new frame Wink

Yeah those rules are custom-made for the Big 4.

You know...........one time I banged this Asian chick and she said something similar......

After we got done doing our thing , I was catching my breath ( my cardio wasn't up to par ) and now that things were done....I was wanting to just get on with my day. She was wanting "comfort " I guess and she said " Why you no touching me??".

First thought that popped into my head when I read the thread title.
