Alot of people forget that motocross is alot more then just speed. I have watched Cooper Webb since he was on minis and he is an all around racer. He has speed, style, endurance and most of all he is mentaly strong and doesnt get flustered when things dont go his way. I have watched AC have problems like this when things didnt go his way. I really doubt that AC will place better then Webb.
Someone said that Webb is on a sub par bike.Laughing If you think that the PC and geico bikes are any better then what Webb is riding right now your crazy. That Yamaha is on equal ground as the other bikes and if you think the EFI bike will lap any faster then you have not been around much.

Sorry dude but I have been around much and if you don't think the Geico or PC bikes are superior to his bike now, please send me whatever you're smoking. But for real dude, you would want a pro circuit Kawi over a yamadog, right??

So I guess that if he was on one of those bikes he would be alot faster ? That means he would be outrunning KR and ET. That Yamaha has a cosworth motor on it and I would bet money its as strong as any bike out there and the suspesion is good to. Ask Osborn what he thought about his Yamahas. I already did when we were at club mx so i already know the answer and if the carb is so outdated then how come he is still getting good starts and can pull most bikes on the straights?

Not rying to argue but I have been around this stuff for 30 plus years. His bike is just as good as the others.

The rest of the field is in full race-mode.. He will miss some 30+2 experience, compared to the rest! Looking forward tough Smile !

good race to pick since now most riders are tired

Realistically, we all know he is at least as fast as Webb, so he has the speed. The only questions will be how well he can start, if he can limit his mistakes, and how his fitness will hold up especially considering his recent illness.

Given that, he will likely show flashes of speed but I wouldn't be surprised to see him loose ground due to a couple of mistakes and possibly fade in the 2nd moto if he is not fully 100% yet, though I doubt he would be coming back if he wasn't.

The only time we've seen these two race on big bike has been the MEC so you really can't compare him to Webb. AC split moto wins with tyler medaglia at a local race in Florida and Tyler finished 5th in the Canadian nationals this past weekend. The smart move would had been racing Loretta's then turning pro.

I have no idea how he will do, but I'm super interested to see how he does. I think that he will do better than most think.

I believe AC has beaten Webb the last few times they have raced. Granted that was ages ago in motocross, but as far as raw speed and talent, I don't think anyone doubts that AC CAN go as fast as Webb.

However, I agree with you that his race with Tyler may be a closer comparison but I don't really think it is. That track in Florida was super smooth and easy, AND that was only a short time after AC started riding the 250. I'm sure he is more comfortable with it now.

What I don't get though is why people keep saying that Webb is a more complete racer than AC and that AC can't handle pressure. I guess no one remembers LL2011 Superminis, and AC's come from behind charge in the second moto? The kid has been under huge pressure for the past 5 years or more, he can handle it.

You also have to remember that local races are much shorter than Nationals. I've seen local guys hang with top racers at local races, but put them at a national and they are 20 or 30 seconds behind at the finish.

Either way, I think that AC will do just fine.

Honestly.....I don't see him winning any moto's or O/A's this year. He's kinda small and needs to grow a little more. And besides.....all the other guys have 3 races under their belt and are up to speed. I think AC himself and his team just want him to go out there and give it his best. A moderate goals would be 8th - 12th.......and I think that's more realistic.

Side note : if the motos were shorter....I think he would place higher. I think the longer motos will have him start to fade a little in the last 10 minutes.

He's not as small as people think...

He's definitely grown a lot recently, you can see a lot of height difference and even some shoulder width from MEC to the DC video with TP/MC to the practice vids of him with RV just before the nationals.

He'll do fine, I expect he'll get holeys weighing 15lbs less than the rest of the guys, top 10 to start and then top 5s and a podium isn't out of the question. Dude trains with RV and Weimer with Aldon Baker cracking the whip, pretty sure he'll be dialled more than some internet jocks are thinking

He wont be racing this weekend.
6/5/2013 9:30am
If or when he races... He will get a great start because he weighs about 100lbs and will be hanging onto a rocket.
He will then be swallowed up by a pack of hungry riders going the relative speed. Finishes 12-14.
Marked with the Good Housekeeping seal of approval
Lets face it, he has never faced the kind of pressure he will face. In the past it's been 40 rider gates with only a couple guys running anywhere near his pace. Now? Going to be a 40 rider gate with 20+ guys going close to his speed.
People going inside, people going outside, some at the same time. People in his lines, attacking him all the way around the track.
Been a long time(if ever) that he's had to deal with that.
All the hype is going to make him a target to every rider out there who thinks they aren't getting their due(rightfully felt or not)
I wish him well.

If a carb isn't outdated, why did they all go EFI? Every car, bike, engine, ... in the world?

I know EFI is better but everybody thinks that if you have a carb you cant compete. Those same people need to watch some of those Yamahas run with the efi bikes every weekend. You could take any 250F out there right now and put a good carb on it and I would bet money that the lap times would be about the same.

one good thing about some of these predictions is it tells you whose posts you can take seriously in other threads..

I mean seriously, predicting a win or podium in his first professional race is just too hard to believe..
