Laugh all you want, but the coverage is worse every year unless your plan is to sit in front of a computer all day. Even the hardcore fans on message boards are over that nonsense. Its shit coverage that is shrinking the sport, and the industry response to it is elitist. "Drrrrr well I had to wait forever back in the 70's...drrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... be happy with anything drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr." You're all failing on something that was done better 15 years ago. In every measurable way. Live coverage means dick to 90% of the people who actually watch the races. The hundred or so that are so vocal about how live is essential that frequent these boards represent less than 1% of the people watching the races. But the non home-schooled among you can figure that out.

Not a big fan of the A-holes that own the beIN channel, but they sure know how to show a motorcycle race. The World Superbikes are shown non-stop, no commercials both races and the coverage for MXGP has been great. Only complaint is that the field is not very deep. 20 riders on the gate is a freaking joke. It kind of takes away from the grandeur of a World Championship to me. Great tracks and scenery tho.

Trying to go down the Moto GP route it almost seems,the saving grace being that the product is often great,MX1 had awesome race this weekend with the top 10 or more all really close and plenty of passing etc,the Brazil set up had a great venue with a stadium like feel and the fans were naturally loving it,especially with Herlings coming from dead last too

This is all very well but eventually if the numbers are thinned down more and the racing goes away,so do the fans,and with the big expense of the staging the event,nobody will want to take them on and the whole thing falls down like a pack of cards,no exposure,less incentive for teams,who pull out and less racing and on and on,that's a big worry

I'd argue that TV coverage is driven by demand, essentially. No eyeballs, no advertisers, slim coverage.

How about this....you pay extra for the " beIN channel" sports package just so you can watch MX.
Race day comes and you watch the first motos fine.
Second motos they want you to watch online so you head to their website and for some reason your provider isn't listed even though you pay extra for the channel.Frustration in sues so you track down "beIN channel's" head honcho. We will call him "Jon Litner" and ask what the heck ,Jon? And then get an answer that they're sorry and they will look into it. Smile

Funny thread, and I replied to your comment because I fully agree with what you are saying, except the "live" stuff; people prefer to watch live formula 1, nascar, WRC or MotoGP. From your perpective, it looks like it is 10 times more difficult to make it live, is it?

I am a hard core fan but I stopped watching the GPs, I may do the same with the Nationals soon, I may just watch the highlights, so there is a 50% probability that I will be looking for a SX only contract for 2014 Smile
