My guess...L&M offered more dough and less structure. James has a pretty lucrative program of personal sponsors that would not be welcome at JGR.

You know, I'm with you, I would have expected him to sign with JGR as well or Suzuki. I was surprised by the L & M thing if it is actually happening.

Does anyone know roughly how much Stewart made at kawasaki? Racer x had an article up a couple months ago that was saying Reed made over 10 million last year and he only raced half the season... mabey Stewart wanted a taste of that? Just a guess

Any insider info of the factory salaries?? I know that the big money comes from Fox, Nike, Oakley, Kicker, insert energy drink and skate shoe etc..

Why does everyone think or insinuate that James is only money motivated? From the way he rides, he looks to me like someone who really enjoys riding. Just my two cents...

Besides, I think the Bentley, custom Hummer and ZX6R street bike were gifts from Red Bull, and he bought the Rolls Royce phantom, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari 430 and Range Rover sport himself.

I actually do think they offered him a deal. I am just surprised he went to L&M...... I guess Money talks, and L&M paid him what he wants. But think about it.... Stewart is the biggest thing in MX/SX right now, you would have expected the factories to be fighting over him paying him whatever he wanted. Its all but sure titles to have him on your bike.

For the last time: MXA test rider Larry Brooks (71) is the team manager of the L&M/San Manuel Yamaha team. His rider for 2009 is James Stewart. In short, James Stewart will ride a Yamaha in 2009. No more questions.

when did they say that? all the stuff i heard was this year was feeling things out next year its for the championship...maybe they were thinking JBS would be there but L&M stole him out from underneath them $$$$ ????
