I recently purchased a set of Thor gear thinking it still had the quality it had in the past. All along the seam in the back blew out after 2 rides. What a joke! After seeking some answers from someone at Thor, this was the response...

"Thank you for your inquiry and support through the years. I am sorry to read about your 2012 Pro Circuit pants. We do have a (1) year warranty from date of purchase on our gear and would suggest you contact your dealer right away. I have attached a letter explaining our return process."

Thanks for standing behind your product I treasured... You can bet Thor won't be on my back.. Or any of my fellow riding friends.

All gear brands have got to crap since they are all made in mexico and china. The biggest problems with me are the buckles.

The quality isn't there at all. Seems like most gear doesn't hold up well as it used to.

My 2013 Thor phase stitching is already coming out, but I have been told for years its not the best in quality so I only blame myself.
My "Emig era " (no idea what year) and '09 shift gear has been tried and true since day 1! ...2 cents

I've never had any problems in the past but I guess all good things must come to an end.

This.

I'm thinking Thor will take care of you through the dealer. At least give them a chance; let us know what the resolution is.

Call them! They can take care of you.. I've handled many warranties through almost every single gear company and Thor is actually one of the best at sticking behind their stuff. Like they said, as long as it hasn't been over a year, they will warranty them. If the item is available you will get a replacement set, if they are discontinued whoever you bought them through will get credited by Thor and they will credit you the price you paid..

Another brand to checkout is fly, their support is second to none, just look at all the privateers and pros theyre supporting. I race snocross but even now in the offseason theyre supporting me and helping me out with moto gear. Holds up great in the elements too.

Seems like a perfect reply to me.

They told you it was a warrenty repair, see your dealer to send them back.

What else did you expect?

I own both THOR and Alias gear and both wear like steel. I could not compain with I wanted to.

I have had two sets of fly gear and never had a problem with them. The first set was in the lower price range and the second is mid range. I still wear my first set when I practice or its muddy.

So no one would drive new gear to your house, instantly?

He probably got them online using a stolen credit card and that's why he won't call them. ( this statement is not from self experience but from running a dealer)

Sometimes companies would like to deal with the dealer/online store rather than direct with a customer. Not uncommon. Contact who you purchased them from and they should be willing to help you out or at the very least send the pants to Thor to be fixed or warrantied or credited depending on if they still have the pants available.

Just call who you ordered them from, not Thor. You always call who you bought the product from first, they exchange it, then they deal with it on the back end, that's called customer service. That's how most businesses workHuh
Thor is all I use, helmet, boots, and about 5-6 pairs of gear and never had any problems..

Sounds like the best solution was given to you. Even the best of products will occasionally have flaws

I have to chuckle when someone replies "support your local dealer"
I don't owe my local dealer anything and I will buy where I will get the best deal from. I recently shopped for a new Shoei helmet.....$575 at my dealer plus tax, $370 online with free shipping and no tax.

I had this exact same problem on a pair of 2012 thor phase slab pants. 2 rides and the seam split in the butt of the pants. Thankfully, I called motosport.com where I bought the pants and the customer service rep told me the pants had been discontinued because the 2013 stuff had already come out, so thor would not replace them. After a few days, a brand new pair showed up at my house. I had no idea that the customer service rep did this, but he talked to his boss and they sent me a new pair on their own dime. I am a lifelong motosport customer after this. I have been using them for over 10 years now, but this solidified my loyalty. Great group of people up there. I will always use motosport, but will never buy thor again.

I have had a set of MSR gear for 2 yrs now and not one single problem besides normal wear on the leather.

As for Thor's statement, it is all manufacture's policy to go through the dealer from where you bought their product unless you are a supported athlete. If you have a problem with the dealer, then you can call Thor and let them know the dealer is not honoring the warranty.

They didn't tell you the truth. Even if they have been discontinued you can still warranty them as long as you purchased them within a year. Yeah you might not get the same pants, but they could have warrantied them for you.

Holy shit. You had a problem and they gave you a simple solution along with a letter to accompany the pants on return for an exchange. What else were you expecting? Seriously, please explain what you were expecting them to do for you.

Seeing how everybody is complaining about the seams blowing out in the ass, maybe you all are in the same boat as I?? Squeezing in the 34 instead of fessing up to the reality of it all....LOLLaughing

Not hardly Newmann! 6'1", 130 lbs. Unless my tailbone is puncturing the pants, then I shouldn't have a problem. Wink
