You think RV would move to Nationals only? He flies on a SX track. I can see Alessi, Cooper (Guy? No. Damn. Cody rocks though) and Langston all doing outdoor only.

Who knows if he would... But it sure looks like he has fun hanging it out. He has his own style for sure... reminds me of RC. Pulls shit off that would put other people on the ground.

I was really hoping to see JS stay outside 1 more year, maybe he will....him and Villopoto running together would be wild to see. Im sure they are close, dont know who would win, dont care....Just seeing them running full tilt is epic. I have no idea how they can see the track different then everyone else.

I remember hearing Villopotos bike at Red Bud and thinking that thing sounds so much different then every other bike on the track. Then I realized...its because he is still WFO when everyone else has got off the gas.

I don't recall ever seeing a pro rider pass out or collapse from exhaustion after a SX. It happens in MX. How many finished their motos at the TX national?

It did not happen because the track was rough it happened because of the heat outside. I was at the race in the mechanics area.

I have raced both professionally and can tell you it is just different. Supercross keeps your heart rate higher and you are above your AT quite a bit through the whoops and timing sections. MX is more time spent right at the AT and you can controll it more. If your heart right gets high you can rest for a second. You just don't have that option indoors. It isn't that one is necessarily harder than the other, just you would train differently for each. MXtrainer1 has the HR data for each if we could get him to respond.

Being old school I prefer out doors. Back in the late 70s to early 80s there were a lot of night tracks in So Cal that tried to mimc the SX style track (nothing like to days tracks, indoor or outdoor where everything is just bigger). The night races were much easier then, and the track conditions overall remained great throughout the night. Tracks like Calrsbad, Indian Dunes, Saddleback etc. were gnarly by the end of the first moto and the second motos showed who was fit. My last rideS (forever) were in January and the jumps at every track are just big. OK, long winded old guy BS is over. Both indoor and outdoor have pluses from both sides, so I say again combine both series and make one champ and elimate "ONLY" contracts. "ONLY" contracts can have XGames and Arenacross. Just my opinion, and we'd have best all around MX/SX riders at the top.

That would be cool to do some kind of combined championship... It would keep people around for the outdoors and with only one title, it may push everyone more. Maybe even add more prestige to it... but at the same time both moto and SX take different qualities.

Regardless, I'm not in good enough shape to do either one right now.

Foot for foot, SX is more physically demanding. At the indoor track I rode at al the time in ohio, I could barely string 2 laps together without getting arm pump on about a 30 second lap time, and the outdoor track at ohio I rode at (had one jump, so it wasn't hard at all), I was pounding out motos on a 2 minute lap time. It isn't a cakewalk, sure, it isn't that rough, but it's just the neverending stretch of constantly doing something, maybe getting a straightaway if you're lucky, you're constantly working.

Didn't Denny Stephenson joke about racers getting tired racing SX during one of the MX webcasts this year?
